Rhett is doing great now! His X Rays are clear and his pneumonia is gone.
was in the hospital for 6 days because he had double pneumonia. His lungs were operating at 50% capacity, he got down to 34 pounds and he was on oxygen for more than 2 days.
I brought him home 7/18 and he's now doing well!
His vet bill reached $4,100.
Rhett's History: Rhett came into the Sacramento City Animal Shelter with dog bite wounds and many, many foxtails. The shelter vet deemed his condition serious and asked us to take him, which we did on June 26.
We had 45+ foxtails removed from his body at the same time he was neutered. A week after surgery, he came down with kennel cough which worsened to pneumonia.
Rhett had double pneumonia and stayed in intensive care in the hospital for 6 days. He was in very serious condition, spending his days in the oxygen room and getting round the clock care. Our bill so far is $3,900.
Your help is GREATLY appreciated.

Recent Rescues: We took in Bebe, a very timid but sweet 1.5 year old black tri whose owner got out of the breeding business and put her on Craig's List.
We also rescued Luke who is a 70 lb, low key boy who is likely an English Shepherd, (rather than Aussie with his tail).
On 7/14 we took in Bronze, an 8 year old, 100 lb red tri and we took in Radar, a 6 year old, 65 lbs blue merle - both owner surrenders, both lived outside in pens for years. They are FABULOUS boys!

Scarlet from the Santa Cruz shelter is MUCH better already under Sue and Dave's loving care.
Our Reunion was wonderful! Thank you all for coming and showing off your wonderful kids! Thanks again to Sue Wilson for making a video of our time together! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ur4PaihlAD4
Please consider fostering one of our dogs. Susan and David in Sacramento are fostering Scarlet, Dave and Carol in Walnut Creek are fostering sweet Cody, and Gwen in Martinez fostered Shelby as she healed from a broken leg.
Fostering makes a huge difference in these dogs' lives because they get lots of one-on-one time with a person...at the Sanctuary, they all share one person... me! Fostering also helps to "lighten my load" here so I have more time to write newsletters, research foundations, take dogs to the vet and, oh yes, rest!
I'm grateful to people who adopt one of our dogs! Each time one of ours is adopted or fostered, a vacancy opens for another to come here.Thank you!
Sometimes we're so crowded at the Sanctuary, that I need to board dogs elsewhere. We spend more than $4,000 annually for boarding. You can help by fostering, or by making a donation with PayPal. Thank you!

Go to Shelter Aussies to see the beauties who've lost their homes. Also look at Owner Listed Aussies...they are in trouble too. If you'd prefer a little dog, please look at Pocket Dogs
