Shelter Aussies
View the dogs below. Click on their pictures to see a larger image. We hope to help shelter dogs find good homes, so we post as many as we can. Some are temperament tested, some are not. If you have toddlers or young children, we do not suggest adopting an Aussie straight from the shelter. Shelter dogs are all URGENT. Please go to the shelter to learn about these dogs.

FOSTER
Foster is a pedigreed Australian Shepherd and is nine years old. He is friendly and very, very curious, as this breed can be. He is a bit "hyper" when first meeting people, but quickly settles down. He does not love to go to the vet., and this is the one time that we use some care with him and muzzle him. Once out of the close confines of the vets working area he is fine. I've never worried about him with other people. Foster is well trained and responds to the basic commands of "sit" and "lay down" and "stay". He used to be very good on a leash but has kind of forgotten that since we've been in the country, but I'm sure he would quickly respond to leash training. He is a great watch-dog and enthusiastically announces the presence of unfamiliar people or other critters if they enter his territory. It saddens me to part with him, but I am making a move into an environment that just can't accommodate an active guy such as Foster. It is my hope to find a home for him where he can receive love and good care. He loves to be loved, and has much to share with the right people. Contact Robert Chandler 209.852.9241 or email robert@hamiltonchandler.com for more information & to meet Foster.

Hailey, # 22085
Hailey is spayed, 8 years old, deaf. She is a nice Aussie girl who was a stray, and has a history of being a stray and coming into the Sac SPCA at least three times since 2006.  Owner has reclaimed each time, except for this time.
The owner left Hailey tied to a fence overnight and did not answer phone calls made to her.  Sounds like the owner doesn't have a stable residence either. We hope to get her out of a shelter environment and fostered or adopted ASAP. Contact: Lizz at lwestphal@sspca.org

Woofie
I am 18 months old and I am a good dog. I am house trained & I am very shy until I get to know you. I am still a puppy and would like to go to more training classes. I like other dogs and was very polite to the cats I met here. I am an active and playful boy who would be a great pet for a family with older teenagers.

Mixes

Shasta Boy
This cutie was picked up as a stray in Scott Valley - he looks to be a 1 year old. He was dragging a short section of leather lead and wearing a green nylon collar….like someone put him on a tie out and he chewed himself free. Other than a dime size pad burn (from running?) he is in great shape Very friendly, very handsome, and has lots of energy.

When we walk him he cowers at cars. He came in on 5/14 and is just a darling boy. Please adopt him so he can have a home of his own. . Will someone please adopt or foster him? Such a dear boy.
