Bug NCAR #873
We rescued Bug and his brother, Blink from the Yuba County shelter. He is a blue merle mini Aussie boy, about 14 months old and 22 pounds. He and his brother were surrendered to the shelter by their breeder because "they bit the leg of a 4H pig."

Bug is all wiggles and smiles, and quite timid. It took only a few hours for him to trust me enough to come in for pets and hugs. I can pick him up and he does not struggle, in fact he likes it! He bucked on a leash and doesn't know any commands, but thankfully, he's a nice boy who simply needs to learn about the world! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Zoey

Zoey now lives with Marie and her son, Dylan in Roseville. Zoey will take obedience classes and will get to spend lots of time with her new family.

Zoey is an 11-month-old Aussie who came into the Madera Shelter as a stray. She's all sweetness and love, friendly, and deaf. Her eyesight is good, and she responds well to hand signals. She plays nicely with other dogs and is gentle soul. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Bernard NCAR Pup #50
Bernard just turned 6 years old in July. He's a big mini who we rescued 2 years ago along with his sister, Bailey. His adopters were forced to return him to us due to their loss of jobs and their home.

He has lived with children ages 10 and 17, likes leash walks, is Velcro to the point of barking when he can't be with me. He is very handsome, needs to shed a few pounds and get down to about 37 lbs, had a luxurious coat and is a mellow guy. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Alma
Alma is a 5 year old mini Red Merle girl. She was rescued from a bad breeding operation when she was 18 months old. She lived outside 24/7 and wasn't socialized. Her rescuer has given her a great life, but Alma is desperately afraid of her husband and will hide when he's around. Her only other issue is that she bolts if given the opportunity……..and she can run fast and far! So the ideal home for her is with a woman, quiet household, good fencing or apartment where she can't bolt out the door. She's sweet and friendly when she meets people on walks (and on leash) and she is friendly towards children, too. She has lived with two female dogs, doesn't bark, is fine left alone in the yard or the house, and likes her rubber chew toys and bones. Alma is in Santa Cruz. Application required.

Rosie NCAR #887
Rosie is a 15-month-old, red-merle girl who lived with a family with children and livestock. Her photos don't do her justice -- she seems to always look scared when the camera comes out! She wasn't getting the attention she needed, and we were asked to help her find a good home.

She has a very long natural bob tail, and long body. She's playful, sweet, and hasn't had much training. She's average activity level, plays with other dogs, but we're not sure about cats. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Apple NCAR #46
Apple is an 11 month-old, happy, deaf, blue merle girl who was surrendered to the Sacramento SPCA because the people had too many dogs. Her vision is good, although I think not 100%.

Her people kept her outside most of the time, with several other dogs. Now she's inside and outside, sleeps nicely in her crate and loves to hop on the bed for pets! She wakes up from a deep sleep all wiggles and love......she is just darling!

She LOVES every person she meets and wiggles her way into your lap if you let her. She plays with others nicely. She has proven she likes to explore, so she can't be trusted off leash unless you're MILES away from traffic! She's learned sit and stay with hand signals, but you need to be QUICK! She scoots in and out of the sliders REALLY fast! She‘s ready for obedience classes where she‘ll learn more hand signals. Fostered in Brentwood.

Josie
Josie is more than a sweetheart! She is a 10-year-old Border Collie mix and is around 35 lbs. Josie is an older gal so she is pretty mellow. She loves car rides and paws you to make sure you keep petting her.

She would be perfectly content if she just to spend her days at the foot of a couch getting pet. Josie is not great with other dogs or cats – so we're looking for a home where she will be an only dog, get some exercise, but not at dog parks.

Josie is in Lincoln, CA.

Brandi NCAR #877
Brandi is a 3-year-old, blue merle who was purchased with her brother, Whiskey when they were just 8 weeks old. The couple have disabilities and can no longer care for them both. She is a very timid girl who never left the house and yard since she was a puppy.

UPDATE:Brandi has completed obedience classes, has been on several outings and is doing much better! She gets excited when the leash comes out because she LOVES leash walks with her Foster Mom. She now has a solid recall, knows sit, down and stand on verbal cue. She doesn't hide from strangers anymore, but still isn't very comfortable around them.

Kudos to Lia, a very experienced foster mom, and kudos to Brandi! Fostered in Saragota.

Rocky NCAR #881
Rocky's family couldn't pay the stray hold fee when they went to the Stockton shelter to find him, so they left him there. Thank you Lisa, for pulling him for us and getting him bathed!

He is an older boy, we guess around 10-13 years young. He is sweet, loves strangers, kids and lives with 5 other dogs in his foster home. He is very mellow -- about as mellow as they come!

Our vet told us he has an old dislocated hip that was never repaired. He seems to have adjusted to it after all these years, besides a "hitch in is step" it doesn't seem to bother him. He does have arthritis but is responding well to meds and low key walks around the block.

He has a healthy appetite, a funny quirky personality and loves being part of his foster family's daily routine. He appears aloof to cats, we suspect he would do fine in a home with cats. Fostered in Sacramento.

Wesley
Wesley is a darling, 9 month old black tri. He had a bad break to his right foreleg when he was very young. He's had surgery and is doing great! He just cannot run for long distances or periods of time as he'll get sore.

He's been VERY well socialized, likes all children and people. He loves being with people whether at home, at the beach or in the car. He's lived with cats, dogs, livestock and birds. He needs to be with someone who will be with him most of the time and continue his training. His current owner had a change in lifestyle and cannot provide him that anymore. Wesley is a great puppy! Wesley is in Santa Cruz. Application required.
