Winston
Winston's owners could no longer care for him, so we're helping him find a new forever home. Winston is a 9 year old Lhasa Apso. Friendly, playful, and requires minimal exercise. He doesn't do well left alone all day, so a home where he can perch up on someone's lap is ideal. A walk around the block is his favorite thing, as well as tossing toys around. He greets strangers nicely and knows a few tricks as well. Winston is up to date on his vaccines, heart worm negative and the perfect body weight. He is on a prescription diet to help his urine enzymes stay at a healthy level. He likes other dogs and loves car rides. He prefers older children, 10 and above. Babies and toddlers make him nervous. He initially meets cat with a playful bark, then becomes indifferent to them. He easily corrects when asked to stop barking. A dog sauve cat with supervision at the beginning would be necessary.

Winston is fostered in Sacramento. Contact Lisa Chafee at 916-203-8728 and lisachafee@hotmail.com

Ruby, NCAR #37

Ruby and her new sweater
Ruby is a gorgeous, 5-6 year old red Chihuahua who weighs 6 pounds. We rescued her from the Sacramento County shelter and she's healthy and happy and ready for her new home!

She’s crate trained, extremely friendly and loves to be in any adult's lap. Ruby is extremely friendly, walks beautifully on a leash, and is very smart.  It doesn’t appear that she had any training, but in her current foster home she has already learned ‘stay’, ‘wait’, and ‘down’.  She is cat tolerant and gets along well with other dogs, but she does not like children.  It would be preferable that she be the only dog.  She needs an owner that is willing to provide structure and training.  She would do best in a home where someone can be with her most of the time. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Rickie
I would like to introduce you to Rickie, a little 4 year old male reddish brown chiweenie that weighs approx 9 lbs and is the sweetest, although very timid, little charmer that you would ever want to meet. Rickie came to our rescue after his owner, the owner that he had known for his first 3 years of life, suddenly died. Rickie was passed around to a couple of rescues because he would try to bite and growl due to being so scared. Once he came to live at his present foster home where he received a lot of TLC dished out very patiently, he blossomed. He is still a little standoffish when meeting new people, but again, with patience he warms up and is a little sweetheart. He gets along well with all of the other dogs in his foster home and plays for hours with the other small dogs there until it's time to curl up in a soft warm spot and take a nap. He sleeps well in a crate at night and doesn't fuss.

Rickie has some potty training issues and will need a refresher course on how to use a dog door. Rickie can sit up on his little back legs forever and wait for a treat or most importantly to be picked up and cuddled like a little baby in your arms.No cats! Rickie is being fostered in Lodi.
