Yule (Serena's Pups)
Yule was the perfect, mellow puppy for Keith and Chelsea and their 3 children. And, Yule lives in Nevada City so I can see him from time to time!

These are not purebred Aussies. Serena, their mom (see her posting below) is purebred Aussie, but Pop might be a German Shepherd or shepherd mix. These kids are not huge though!

Puppies were 5 weeks old on Saturday, Jan 3. There are two black, and 4 fawn pups. Yule is the only boy! Jingle looks most like her mom, and her siblings are fawn and black with cute markings and white socks.

All are healthy, happy and we think they’ll be the size of a standard Aussie, but one can never be sure! We are taking applications and deposits now and will set up meetings starting Saturday, Jan. 3.

Adoption donation is $150, with a $250 spay/neuter deposit. All puppies will have 1 booster shot, deworming and vet exam before adoption. Pups can go home on January 23.

Scooby NCAR #523

Scooby and his family
Scooby lives with Andrea and Craig and their 2 daughters. Andrea is a stay at home mom and the family lost their senior Aussie 2 months ago and fell in love with Scooby’s endearing personality!

Scooby is a 10 month old black tri who weighs about 52 pounds and is just gorgeous. His owner is a student whose living situation has changed and found it difficult to give Scooby all that he deserves. Scooby has been highly socialized with people and dogs and is on the mellow side. He’s been on trains, busses and cars, and likes children and all people. Fostered in Grass Valley . Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Zena NCAR # XXX
This little 3 year old Aussie mix was living with a homeless man who was incarcerated. A kind person brought her to the Oroville Shelter. Because she was a bit fearful at the shelter, they asked us to rescue her. She’s fun, likes people, is learning how to be an inside/outside dog and seems fine with other dogs of either sex. She is very protective of her food with other dogs, so she would do best as an only dog or if in a 2 dog household, being fed in a crate or separate room. She needs a good pack leader rather than someone who 'babies' her and would do well in an obedience class so she can learn things and become more confident in her new world. Fostered in Marin.

TEDDY NCAR # 520

We'll clean him up, get him neutered and he'll be up for adoption soon!

Lucky

Joejoe

5 Brothers URGENT

Chateau

Dakota

Sammy

The owner of these dogs is in the hospital and her son is caring for them. He can't do it much longer and has asked for help. Sam, Dakota, Chateau, Joe and Lucky are litter-mates, 11 years old and are neutered. They have been outdoor dogs and are very friendly.

"My Mother took this litter in and the owner said they were Aussie mixes. I see possible Basset and Shepherd. They have been outdoor dogs, without formal training. I compiled the profiles based on an interview with my Mother and observations while taking the photos. All are basically good natured and comfortable to the lead."

Millie
Case #: 08120274p
Gender: Female
Age: 3-5
Primary Breed: Australian Shepherd
Secondary Breed: Australian Cattle Dog
Color: Red Merle
Adoption Fee: $75.00

Millie and Margaret are two very stout, very affectionate girls. They came to us as strays in December 2008 and no one came for them. How could no one come to look for their spayed, chubby, and incredibly lovably girls! They’ve obviously been someone’s indoor dogs that were very well fed and cared for. Millie and Margaret love each other, we believe they are sisters, but aren’t required to go to a home together. They don’t cry and get upset when they’re separated, and will quickly bond with any new family members (people or pets). Millie is an absolute love. I can’t get enough of this sweet girl! No matter where you are, Millie is right beside you and is always rubbing on your leg or nudging your hand to be petted. If you sit on the ground with her, she is immediately in your lap and that’s the only place she wants to be. Millie and Margaret are both very animal social and are great with cats and other dogs. Both girls would be great with kids and are very gentle, sweet dogs. Millie is a little bit more dependent on people than Margaret, but they are both ridiculously personable. Millie and Margaret both walk beautifully on leash and know all of their basic commands. If you’re looking for a dog you can take anywhere that will love everyone and everything it meets, and a dog that can be an indoor couch potato and cuddle buddy, don’t look any further than these wonderful dogs! Baby Cakes
Meet sweet, little Baby Cakes. She was born with eye defects that prevent her from seeing. We believe she is a Miniature Australian Shepherd mix. She is roughly 10 lbs. and is looking for a family (with no children please) that either has experience caring for a blind dog or is willing to educate themselves on the special training and care it takes to have one in their home. Baby Cakes is currently in foster care.

Kelly NCAR # XXX
Kelly lives with Diane in Los Gatos where she’ll have lots of room to play fetch and lots of time to help Diane “work” in her garden! This is a dream home for Kelly and we’re thrilled for her!

Kelly is an 7 month old Border Collie mix. She’s smart and figures out things on her own....especially when it has to do with getting food! She's spayed, has all her shots, is crate trained and housebroken. She walks well on a leash, but can get barky when new dogs or some people approach her, but then wants pets. She adores being cuddled on the sofa and is very loving.

She's a sturdy girl at 34 pounds, and quite confident. She will push some adult dogs away from food or a special toy. She comes running when called and already knows sit, lie down and roll over. This girl will do well at anything she and a good handler want to tackle! Kelly LOVES the agility equipment. Fostered in Grass Valley. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Hampton
Case #: 08120344p
Gender: Male
Age: 1
Primary Breed: Australian Shepherd
Color: Tricolor
Adoption Fee: $250.00

Delaware and Hampton are two stunning Aussie boys. They came to us as strays in December 2008 and no one came for them! Delaware and Hampton aren’t required to find a home together since they are bonded, but are not dependent on one another. Hampton is just a goofy, happy, and eager to please type of boy. He is incredibly loyal and always looking for a lap to snuggle into. When I walked Hampton out in our large socialization field, he was constantly looking back to check on me and be sure I was still with him. Hampton knows, “sit” and walks beautifully on the leash. He is very motivated by praise and treats, so either one will do. Hampton met our office cats and didn’t want anything to do with them. I think he’d be perfectly fine living in a home with cats because he’s so passive. When Hampton met other dogs here, he immediately wanted to play. He is extremely pro-social with other dogs, but will need to find a home with another dog that will play with him because that’s all he wants to do. Hampton will need a home with kids that are at least five years old and can handle his energy level. Delaware and Hampton will both need regular visits to the groomer, so be sure before looking into adopting them, that you are ready for the expenses. Delaware and Hampton are two very charismatic and lovely boys that deserve wonderful homes where they can be a part of the family. Adoption- $250 Butte Humane Society 2579 fair street, chico , ca 95928

Primary Breed: Australian Shepherd

Delaware and Hampton are two stunning Aussie boys. They came to us as strays in December 2008 and no one came for them! Delaware and Hampton aren’t required to find a home together since they are bonded, but are not dependent on one another. Delaware is an extremely friendly boy that loves to play. He does know a few commands, but is pretty stubborn and will require consistent training. He’s just very intelligent and knows how to use that to his advantage. Delaware is an active dog, but after he’s done playing, he loves to come over to you and give kisses and lots of hugs. Delaware met our office cats and was pretty interested in them. I think he would chase a cat that ran, but when one of our office cats swatted him on the nose he started crying and hid behind me. If Delaware finds a home with cats, they need to be dog savvy and stand their ground. Delaware met some other dogs here and was so excited he could barely contain himself. He was a bit rude at first, and a little dominant, but really only wanted to play and make friends. He’s just a bossy Aussie and would do very well in a home with another dog that will teach him a thing or two about manners. Delaware will need a home with kids that are at least five years old and can handle his energy level. Delaware and Hampton will both need regular visits to the groomer, so be sure before looking into adopting them, that you are ready for the expenses. Chloe
Case #: 08120326s
Gender: Female
Age: 9mo
Primary Breed: Australian Shepherd
Secondary Breed: Mix
Color: Tricolor
Adoption Fee: $75.00

Chloe is an interesting, but very sweet girl. She was surrendered to us in December 2008 because she wasn’t getting along with the other dog in the home. Chloe’s previous owner said that she didn’t like dogs, but when Chloe met other dogs here, she didn’t have a problem with them. I think Chloe would benefit from being the only dog in her new home, but I feel like she will be able to have playmates and meet other dogs in public, she just doesn’t like having doggie roommates. Chloe’s previous owner also said she doesn’t like cats. When Chloe met our office cats she was fine with them. I’m not sure if she was chasing the cats in her last home, or if she just was afraid of them, but she seemed fearful of our office cats. We should do another test before she goes to a home with any. Chloe is pretty timid in her kennel, but when you get her out she perks up a lot. She’s only nine months old and will need lots of socialization in the outside world, but being so young, she is very impressionable. Chloe would benefit from obedience classes that have other dogs and people in them so she can learn to be around new people, animals and environments in a controlled setting. Chloe was a mainly indoor dog that is housetrained. Her previous owner said that sometimes Chloe would scratch on doors and dig holes when left alone, so they started crating her and it worked fine. Chloe did live with kids ages 12-18 and plays rough. She should go to a home with kids that are at least ten because she plays like a big puppy (because she IS a big puppy) and because she can be very sensitive at first. Basically Chloe is a puppy that just needs training and confidence building. Her previous owner said their favorite thing about her was that she was loving and loyal. Chloe might be a bit of a project for her new family, but the love she gives in return is all worth it. Adoption- $75 Butte Humane Society 2579 fair street, chico , ca 95928

Elsa NCAR #378

Elsa and her family

Elsa is a rock solid, friendly girl who has her motor running most of the time. She needs 6 foot fencing and lots of opportunity to run around, although when she sleeps, she's out! We think she's Golden Retriever/Shepherd/Aussie mix.

She's an exceptional dog in many ways: She is comfortable living and sleeping inside or out, loves children and people, loves car rides and eagerly gets into her crate in the van. She likes to play with playful dogs...especially the boys like Tonto!

She'd do well with plenty of opportunity to run around, but is probably too much for horses and livestock....I took her into a pen with some goats and she sniffed them, but then got animated and barked as if to invite them to play! She's too energetic I think. She'd be an excellent running or biking buddy....and possibly a trail riding companion. She is a candidate for advanced obedience, agility and possibly tracking. She is always bringing me a toy - and she really wants to be a good girl. She will play fetch and likes to play with the big boys here at the Sanctuary. She did very well in obedience class and is Velcro.

See Elsa Leap!

She is incredibly agile, coordinated and fast! She sails over a 4 foot gate, can sneak through an open door and jump sets of stairs in a single bound! She likes her toys and will play with nice dogs…even puppies, but doesn't need to live with one. She’s housebroken, is fine in the house alone, and has a very stable disposition. Her passion is to stay near her person. Elsa is 4-5 years old and has her long tail and weighs 60 pounds. She's a beauty and fostered in Grass Valley. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Black Tri Male

I am so cute!
This darling Aussie boy is about 6-8 months old. He came in as a stray; the woman who found him said that he was abandoned in the middle of nowhere, freezing with vultures surrounding him. He’s a nice boy, normal energy level, animal friendly, is VERY people focused. When I tried taking his pictures by tying him to the fence he whined and whined. I had to have someone hold onto him so he would settle down. I imagine he is probably going to have some separation anxiety because he howls when you put him away and cries when he sees someone who wont pet him. He will be available on Saturday, 12/20 and will be neutered Monday or Tuesday. Please adopt or foster this sweet boy! Butte Humane is in Chico.
