Bebe NCAR #933
Bebe was found for sale on Craig’s List - her owner wrote, “I want to get out of the breeding business.”

She is 2 years old, had 3 puppies in April and is clearly in shock about being at the Sanctuary. She’s about 35 pounds, her coat is blown from being a mama. She’s a nervous Nellie, yet very sweet. I keep her on a leash while walking around the Sanctuary......she's that timid.

I spoke to her previous owner who said she was inside and outside, but often dug under the fence to explore the country side, but would come back. I’ll post more about her once I get to know her better. Fostered in Grass Valley.

***ADOPTED 9/24***

Leo
Leo is a 15 month old, 45-48 pound, neutered black tri. He was purchased with his sister at 8 weeks old. He’s very active, can run for miles, is loving and in great health. He graduated from obedience class when he was 6 month old and knows: Sit. Wait. Fetch. Shake. Leave it. Working on "down", as in lay down. Trick called "gopher" - he stands on back legs in squat and puts front paws on human forearm. Heels well on leash. Leo comes when called and is crate trained.

We were asked to re-home Leo because he is too attached and too protective of his sister, who is a much calmer Aussie. He gets wound up if separated from her, and when he is near her, pushes her out of the way to get pets from the children and family. He seemed to be more relaxed when his sister was gone for a few days getting spayed. We agree, he’d do best separated from his sister.

He needs lots of exercise, attention and continued training. He’s smart as a whip, very loving and handsome. Leo would make a great companion for someone who wants to be with their dog all the time –walk, run, jog , run, camp…and we think he’d love agility. He loves the beach and lives nicely with 2 cats. Leo is in Santa Rosa.

Cooper
Cooper is a 3-year-old black tri who has nipped his owner a few times when he got stepped on. Now his owners have a 3-month-old baby and know that they cannot make sure their baby never steps or falls on Cooper, so they need to rehome him. He needs an adult home with experienced people who will give him training, structure and lots to do.

Cooper weighs 60 pounds, spends a lot of time with his owner at a winery and is used to being off leash. He's dominant around other dogs, and chases cats. Cooper is in Angwin, CA.

Rhett NCAR #932

Rhett had double pneumonia and hospitalized for 6 days. Although he's home now, he may need a cat scan ($1,000) in a month to make sure foxtails aren't in his lungs. His vet bill is $3,900. Your help is GREATLY appreciated.

Rhett came into the Sacramento City Shelter as a stray. He’s approximately 3 years old, weighs only 40 lbs and should be about 55 lbs.

He had multiple bite wounds and even more embedded foxtails. Our vet removed 45 foxtails on 6/26 and he needs to go back in 2 weeks for another check up to see if more surface.

Rhett was evidently an outside dog who is now neutered and learning house manners. Rhett is goofy, Velcro, likes to catch hose water, likes fetch and is friendly to everyone. He seemed indifferent to the cat in residence at our vet’s office. Not available until 8/20/14. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Buddy NCAR #937
Buddy is a 3-5 year old red tri who was found running around loose (and intact) in the Fresno area. He is a total love bug wants to be with his person all the time. He did nip a neighbor who was visiting - came up behind and lightly nipped back of his leg. Foster Dad is introducing him to people on leash now.

He can jump a 5 foot fence, but hasn’t done that since his first day in his foster home! He loves the pack and gets along well when feeding, has no food aggression, and we can take his food while eating.

Buddy sleeps in the house at night and is learning to be a good house dog. He learned the dog door in two days, can go out front and get the paper or work in the yard and he has no desire to run - he can't wait to run back to the house with the pack.

Buddy is playful and has lots of energy, loves to chase a ball and needs an active, experienced family without young children. Fostered in Fresno.

He knows some commands: Sit, Wait (stay), roll over, talk-to-me (speak), go-get-it (fetch), lie down, crawl. He's not showing signs of playing with any of the others here, can be a bit hard headed, smart, and on the independent side. Fostered in Grass Valley.
