Yogi NCAR #XXX

Yogi lives with Marie in Sacramento where he enjoys spending his days at his Moms side either outside on the lawn, or inside. Nice!

We rescued Yogi because his family was moving. He was adopted from the Reno Shelter, is about 5-6 years old, a big boy at 65 pounds, and likes all people and kids. Although he lived with a cat, he seemed quite interested in the 2 cats in his foster home! He's obedient, not too energetic, housebroken and seems to gravitate more towards people than other dogs. Fostered in Grass Valley.

SHASTA NCAR #874

Joan loved Shasta’s quirkiness and Shasta loved Joan’s gentle nature. They are living happily in Seaside – as if they had been together for years!

Shasta came to us from a shelter near Shasta Lake. She was picked up as a stray, and it's obvious she was terribly neglected. Her back half of her body was swollen from biting fleas for years. She also had a dewclaw so overgrown that it was growing back into her paw. !

Shasta is about 4-6 years old and we think she's a Mini Aussie mix - she weighs about 25 pounds. She is NOT good meeting strangers - she needs plenty of time to warm up to them. She's learning to walk on a leash, is VERY food motivated and needs a patient person to adopt her. She seems OK with cats, loves lying on the sofa, loves her crate, and is beginning to show her goofy side! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Duke is a big, cuddly, 9 year old blue merle boy who was surrendered to the Solano shelter because they were moving. Hes Velcro, housebroken, mellow, loves pets, and plays fetch. Hes so sweet, knows some commands and is 65 pounds. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Bear NCAR #916

Bear is a playful, year old mix who weighs about 48 pounds, and should fill out a bit in the next year. He's friendly, attentive, hasn't had many new experiences, is fine outside alone or with other dogs. He had a bath and full grooming and seemed to enjoy italthough the blow dryer was a bit scary! He doesn't know many commands, but is already learning from the other dogs here! Soft spoken works best with Bear. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Izzy NCAR #919

Don and Donna will start obedience training with Izzy this week! They found a great trainer who has Aussies and teaches hand signals – YAY!

Izzy will have a great life at the beach with her new big sister, Shania.

Izzy turns 1 year old on April 16 - and already lived in 2 homes. She is partially deaf, very loving and sweet, wants to play with the other dogs as long as they don't scare her, and has learned some hand signals. She also knows how to ring hanging bells at the door if she wants to go out. Her people found her on Craig's List and realized she needed more time than they could give to her, so they asked us to find her a great home She's only been here since 3/1 and we'll post more about her in a week. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Buddy NCAR # 885

Buddy is a 10-year-old blue merle boy with one amber and one blue eye, and his tail. He and his brother, Ollie were posted on Craigslist, so one of our volunteers picked them up and got them all cleaned up and examined by his vet. They had been living in a pig stall and were extremely matted and flea infested. George took them home and called a groomer who couldn't brush them, so they were shaved.

We had his teeth cleaned, and 2 molars extracted - he's a happy, healthy boy now! Buddy is very sweet, easy going with other dogs, will fetch a tennis ball and about 45 pounds. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Bindi NCAR #876

Bindi is a 5-year-old red tri who weighs 45 lbs. She knows many tricks like sit, stay, wait, lie down, roll over, high five, come, heel, go to bed. She's housebroken, likes to lounge on her owner's bed, and needs plenty of exercise.

She can be somewhat aggressive towards larger dogs, and is leery of men whom she doesn't know....needs time to warm up to them. She's been a companion to a single woman her entire life, and her owner moved to Australia and could not take her with her.

Bindi resource guards her toys, space and can nip people she doesn't know if they come too close. It was really serious when she first came to me, but will still rear it's ugly head with new people. She's a quirky girl.......not for the first time dog owner or anyone with children. She lives with a cat and actually lets the cat nuzzle her, but chases the cat when it runs! Fostered in Grass Valley. Application required.

Heidi NCAR #XXX

Heidi is a delightful 13-year-old blue merle girl with her tail. We rescued her from the LA shelter in 2010. She was adopted by a Margaret, a delightful woman who was Heidi's constant companion. Sadly, Margaret passed away recently, so we brought her back to the Sanctuary. She's only 39 lbs, healthy, eats like a bird, chases the tennis ball and would do better without cats. She loves everyone she meets. Fostered in Davis.

Beau NCAR #924

Beau lives with Judy and her husband Michael in Oakland. Lucky Beau will be with Michael in his home office every day, and get to go on romps in the Oakland hills that are directly out their back door!

Beau just turned 4 years old and has already been in 3 homes. We found him on Craig's List and asked if we could help him find his forever home. He was purchased as a puppy and well cared for until his people were arrested and sent to his vet for rehoming.

The vet rehomed him to a couple who wanted him to live outside and he was not at all happy there, so they rehomed him to a woman with a toddler. Beau was afraid of the toddler and growled at him.and that's when we took him in.

He's a well mannered, albeit needy, 68 pound red merle with two blue eyes. He likes fetch, will chase cats, plays OK with other dogs, and would make a fabulous companion (read VELCRO) to someone who would like him around most of the time! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Red NCAR # 921

Red was surrendered to the Sacramento SPCA for growling at a toddler. He had no training, lived outside 24/7 and was not neutered.

We found him gentle, amazingly smart, and loving with everyone he met. His foster mom adopted him after 2 weeks of fostering, and now Red has a wonderful life in Lincoln and Sierraville.
