Winston
Winston's owners could no longer care for him, so we're helping him find a new forever home.
Winston is a 9 year old Lhasa Apso. Friendly, playful, and requires minimal exercise. He doesn't do well left alone all day, so a home where he can perch up on someone's lap is ideal. A walk around the block is his favorite thing, as well as tossing toys around. He greets strangers nicely and knows a few tricks as well. Winston is up to date on his vaccines, heart worm negative and the perfect body weight.
He is on a prescription diet to help his urine enzymes stay at a healthy level. He likes other dogs and loves car rides. He prefers older children, 10 and above. Babies and toddlers make him nervous.
He initially meets cat with a playful bark, then becomes indifferent to them. He easily corrects when asked to stop barking. A dog sauve cat with supervision at the beginning would be necessary.

Sadie NCAR #956
Sadie is an adorable 8 year old mini red merle who was purchased off Craig's List and then given away 2 or 3 times over the past year. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUT A DOG ON CRAIG'S LIST!
She would prefer to be an only dog as she grrs at other dogs in her space....but it doesn't escalate. She is living with lots of dogs here, but I know she'd like to be someone's one and only.
She loves, loves, loves to fetch, is very sweet and loving with everyone she meets. She's only 23 pounds, house broken and smart! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Ringo NCAR #963
Ringo is a 15 month old, neutered blue merle boy. His owners changed their lifestyle and could no longer care for him, so he's merrily playing at the Sanctuary. He's about 38 pounds, has a wonderful personality, is loving and plays nicely with the kids here. He has some obedience training, is used to 3 mile walks every day, has been good around children (must watch nipping at heels of running children still ...).
He was recently shaved, but his coat should grown back in 6-8 months. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Duke NCAR #970
Duke is a fun, friendly 4 year old blue merle. His elderly owner died and there isn't any family to take him. He is outgoing, Velcro, playful with playful dogs here. He did live with cats, and sometimes would give chase, but usually respected them and left them alone.
He seems to like children - enjoyed meeting a 10 and 13 year old. He was just neutered and he's ready for his new home. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Rufus NCAR #961
Rufus landed a wonderful, rural home with Eileen and Dale. He'll be with his people 24/7 and go on car rides too! He will be on the sofa watching TV or roaming around acreage with Dale. YAY!
Rufus is a 10 year old blue merle whose owners lost their home and asked us for help. He's loving, follows his person around like glue, loves car rides, easy to have around. He will bark if he's left alone in a yard, he wants to be inside or with his person. He?s about 47 pounds and an excellent companion dog. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Stella & Ace
Owner is moving to small condo now that her son has gone off to college, and needs to rehome her son's two Aussies. Stella is a 5 year-old spayed female red tri. Ace is a 7 year-old neutered male red merle.
Stella is good with other dogs and also good with children, although does get excited -- she's mostly been around teens.
Ace doesn't like most dogs, but can be good around some. Ace is a bit fearful of children -- owner recommends no children. He takes time to warm up to people he doesn't know but does love people. He loves to swim and chase balls.
Outdoor dogs only, although they are housebroken. Neither is a barker. Both love walks and are leash trained, both good with cats, goats and chickens. Looking for a foster home for these two kids ASAP. Both in Kenwood, Sonoma County on 5 acres. Please email Kim if you are interested or can foster.

Misty
Misty is an adorable and loving 9 month old Pomeranian mix. Her owners got her as a puppy and realize now that they don't have the energy to have a puppy around! She's fun, loving, crate trained, smart, housebroken, gets along with dogs, and is full of enthusiasm. She's up to date on shots, spayed and ready for her new home! Unknown about cats. Bella NCAR #903
Bella is 9 years old and mostly Border Collie. She was adopted from the Colusa shelter as a puppy. She has 3 legs, andis very swift, graceful, and strong. It is so hard to tell that she is missing a leg. Her back left leg was amputated when she was 2-1/2 years old after an accident.
Because Bella is healthy and lean, having one back leg has not caused her any hip problems.
She's great with kids, and loves all people. She's quite sensitive and will comfort anyone who is blue. She's fabulous with children of all ages. I don't recommend taking her to dog parks as she's not interested in playing with them! I think she'd be happiest as an only dog with a loving family with kids who will throw the ball for her and love her.

Rocky NCAR #964
Rocky just turned 4 years old. He?s a nice, 50 pound, black tri boy whose owners are moving and cannot take him. He will be neutered March 20 and available for adoption first week of April.
He will herd goats and livestock, LOVES to play fetch, has been outside mostly, although he?s find in the house. He is friendly to older children and all adults, but has not been around youngsters. He?s a good boy! Fostered in Grass Valley.
