Patch NCAR # 478

Patch and his new dad
Patch's owner died and the family asked us to find him a great home. Hes quite mellow and very friendly towards all visitors to the Sanctuary. He needs time to warm up to new dogs and isn't a playful boy.

He's mellow and sweet and fine left alone long days. He likes being outdoors and does just fine on the sofa, too! Patch is obedient and quiet, and likes off leash romps. He's the only one who doesn't bark at strangers at our gate! Patch is fostered in Grass Valley. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Ashley NCAR #492

Ashley with her new owner
Ashley was bred her whole adult life, then discarded by the breeder when she turned 6 years old. She was given away to someone who gave her to someone else. Ashley never lived in the house and is learning to come through doorways when invited. Shes a bit shy of the leash and having her collar grabbed, but very friendly and sweet. She is also very agile and can squeeze through small spots to get to me. She has had no training.

Shes 7 years old now and came to us from the Ukiah shelter where her owner of 1 year turned her in because her other dogs were picking on her. Were very happy she came to us so we can find her a home where shell build her confidence and get plenty of loving! Fostered in Grass Valley . Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Chunk with his new family

ZUZU is a 6 year old Border Collie mix that was dumped several years ago on a ranch in the Delta. Her owners didn't know she wasn't spayed, and on June 2, Zuzu delivered these cuties. There's a good chance that the fathers are an Australian Shepherd from a couple of miles away and/or a Border Collie on a neighboring ranch.

The family called upon us to make sure these pups got great homes and so were taking applications for these kids. We gave them exams, their first booster shots and wormed them.

Flossy is the only girl, and was the first one to come to me when I opened the crate. She is very confident and a tad stubborn, but very loving! The boys are more mellow and sweet and love to give me kisses. They are all happy, sweet pups!

All are fostered in Grass Valley.

River NCAR# 484
River lives with Karen and Lynn on their cattle ranch. She is the spitting image of Jack, who Karen and Lynn adopted from us 5 years ago. Rivers doing well and thank goodness for the patience of these kind people!

River is an under socialized 3 year old black bi. We got her from the breeder because she was returned by the buyer due to a move. She lived her life outside and slept in the garage. The breeder brought her in and worked with her for several months and then asked us for help. She has fear nipped from behind and needs to be introduced to strangers on leash. Shes doing much better, but I take no chances and always have her on a leash with new people.

She does not pull on a leash, gets along fine with the dogs here, and is very wiggly and sweet around me. She is house broken and sleeps on the floor next to my bed or under it. This girl requires a patient and experienced person to show her the world. Fostered in Grass Valley. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Cocoa
Cocoa is a lovely 10 year old Aussie whose owner died. Cocoa loves plush toys, raw hide, frisbee and a ball. She's lived with 3 cats, but doesn't like other dogs very much and should live as an only dog. She also is fearful and snappy around toddlers. She is lovely to walk or jog with, and she loves playing fetch. She's extremely loving and affectionate with her family members. Her owners acquired her from their mother who passed away and for whom she was a great companion. They've known Cocoa all her life. She was rescued as a pup from a box left on top of a garbage can and she's been part of their family ever since. Here's a quote from her family: "We've lived with Cocoa for six years now solely because we never had the heart to give her to just anyone or give her up to the shelter in fears they may put her to sleep due to her nature. She would make a wonderful companion to someone out there, I just know it. She doesn't really fit in with our family and young children, nor our lifestyle, but we do love her and care what happens to her. I'd love to find her a more suitable home to live out the rest of her years. We're looking for an adult home for Cocoa where she'll be the only dog and soak up all the affection she deserves. Cocoa is in Alameda.

Samantha NCAR# 366
Samantha lives with Sue and Dave in Sacramento and gets to go to the stable with Sue to visit her horse. Samantha adores Sue and the feeling is mutual! Just look at her smile!

Samantha is a gorgeous, low energy 10 year old, female black tri who weighs 45 pounds. She has two blue eyes and is drop dead gorgeous. She is a very quiet and a sweet girl who likes to hug...she's devoted to her person. She will wrap her front two legs around your legs to "Hug You". She is very sweet and gets along with other dogs she knows, but doesn't want to hang out with them. She would make an excellent companion dog for someone, and she'd thrive being an only dog, but she can easily live with another dog. Sammy's very comfortable sleeping on the porch or in a crate and comes inside to sleep too....all in all, very easy going...very low activity. Fostered in Sacramento.

Rexie
Rexie smiling
Meet Rexie, a bright, alert Aussie cross who comes to us from the Sonoma County shelter. Rexie is a recently neutered yearling stray who is house-trained, knows some commands, plays ball and gets along pretty well in a new pack of mostly youngish males. He crated-up well for his first night and traveled well by car to the dog park today. He was graded "adoptable" directly by the shelter, but did not show well because he disliked meeting people in a kennel setting. He tended to stay toward the back of his enclosure and not engage with potential adopters, so shelter staff thought he'd show more appealingly with us. With his rakish, rock-star "face-paint" and friendly demeanor, we agree! Rexie is being fostered by Tom in Danville .

Tessa and family
Tessa lives in Los Altos where shell be at Christines side 24/7. Christines two daughters (pictured left and center) have 4 Aussies between them. Christine has had Aussies all her life and wanted a Velcro girl and found it in Tessa!

Tessa is an 8 year old red merle. Very sweet, easy-going and friendly. She loves people and children and is used to being with her "mom" all the time. Unfortunately, her mom is too frail to take Tess for walks anymore. Tess likes car rides, walks, hanging out and sleeping near her person. She is also crate trained. This delightful girl is only 43 pounds and in excellent health. Fostered in Grass Valley.

April #457

April, Gina, Lonnie and Mac!
April lives with Gina, Lonnie and her new brother, Mac in Cazadero. She LOVES the creek running through her 3 acre property and plays and plays with Mac.

April is an adorable Aussie mix. She's good with other dogs and just look at that face! She's mellow, plays hard with other dogs, and is an incredible watch dog...I introduce her on leash to most visitors at the gate.

She loves to chase lizards and can be a little barky with her fur up if strangers come to the Sanctuary and aren't properly introduced. April was at the over crowded Tracy Shelter so we took her in. She's at the most 2 years old, has her big fluffy tail and just gorgeous. April would be a great companion dog for a playful male or female dog - she could even be a 3rd or 4th dog. She kennels well, is quiet and can be left alone in the house or in the yard for long hours.

Fostered in Grass Valley. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Grady NCAR #488

Grady and family
Grady went home to Piedmon with Kathleen and Geoff and their two boys. Grady has a new Aussie brother, Blaze they really hit it off! Max, the red merle in the back just had to be in the photo, too!

This beautiful boy sat at the Lindsay shelter for two weeks.....no one came for him. Grady is sweet, sweet, sweet and around a year old. We pulled him, got him neutered and microchipped and he's up to date on all his vaccines.

He's playful and friendly and had a good time Tuesday greeting our agility participants. He looks like a black tri, but he's actually a blue merle...a very striking boy.

Fostered in Grass Valley. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com
