Jiggs NCAR #XXX
Jiggs is staying with Mike and Rena in El Sparto. Theyve come to love her and she loves being loved by them!
Jiggs is a cattle dog mix, about 2 years old,36 lbs, people shy but loves to cuddle and be petted. Shes cat friendly, pretty much ignores the cats in her foster home. Shes starting to come when called but still shies away if you reach out to her. Needs to be with another playful dog. She is happy to see her foster mom when she comes home and licks her hand then runs away, but this is a big improvement! Jiggs was another stray found in the country and needs someone with patience to help her overcome her fears.
Shes still a puppy and will chew. She loves leash walks and would do best in a home with a playful, confident dog.
Fostered in Esparto.

Fuji
Fuji is a 2-3 year old, male, terrier cross who weighs about 18 lbs.
He was living in a field in the South Sacramento area for several months but was too afraid of people to allow anyone to get close enough to catch him. After several storms Fuji was too exhausted too run any longer and finally laid down on a strangers porch and waited for someone to come help him. Fuji was found with a surgical rod screwed into his elbow and poking out of his front left wrist. The injury was not only painful but also seriously infected. Veterinarians werent sure if Fuji would regain use of his leg again and he was sent in to surgery hoping for the best.
Fuji is happy living with his 3 doggie siblings, he respects other dogs and will give them space but he really enjoys playing with other dogs if they will play back. While he is very dog friendly what Fuji really wants is to cuddle up with ANYONE that will cuddle him back. He is comfortable around children that know how to respect dogs, but is easily “squeaked” so would do better with a family with older children. His injury has fully healed and he has regained use of his leg. Don’t let his past injury fool you, this little guy loves to run and jump just like any terrier would. Fuji knows basic commands and is trained to use a dog door to go outside.
Fostered in Sacramento.

Spot
Spot is a 9 year old blue merle Mini Aussie. He's 30 pounds and just
gorgeous. He has been raised by his owner
since he was a puppy. Now that he has 2 Aussie sisters, he's not as happy as
he was when he was an only dog...and his owner thinks he'd be happier and do
better if he had someone to dote on him more!
Spot is intolerant of being hugged, squeezed, or picked up. He likes his personal space, but loves being petted on his terms. Spot loves his toys (especially balls) and could easily learn herding…he has a lot of drive and is in great shape. He'll do best with a strong leader without children who is familiar with Aussies and who will be with him most of the time...he's very devoted to his person and is very sensitive to his/her needs and moods. Spot has nipped at people "in his face", so absolutely no children. Spot is in Marysville.
Application required. Contact Kayce at kawolcott@ymail.com

Brownie ID #A011862
Milo Foundation
Brownie is a little, brown Aussie mix dog who bonds very well to people and dogs that she feels safe with - BUT this can take some time. She is otherwise protective when strangers appear, and has what is called a "Snarky" attitude at first.... She can be cautious at times when meeting new people and in new situations, i.e. she is not at all comfortable being grabbed by strangers, and will avoid contact if possible. She can and will spook at loud noises and sudden movements. Because of this, she should not live with young children, or in an active, social household but would be a wonderful companion for adults with a laid back, quiet, though active lifestyle. She is doing very well with all of the dogs that she shares a yard with, although she can be a bit bossy on the first meeting. However, she gets over it very quickly. She is a very intelligent, responsive and sweet girl, who very much wants to give and receive love.<P> Brownie is currently at our sanctuary in the big backyard of the house, and is getting along nicely with the other dogs (mostly seniors) and of course barks out the alert when people pull in! She is quirky, and is definitely a dog best suited to a rural lifestyle. She is very loving and wants love once she gains trust in her person.

Chuckles NCAR pup #31
Lucky Chuckles caught the eye of Rebecca who loves his quirky and hilarious personality. Chuckles will go to work with Rebecca and live in Folsom.
My friend Jeanne who works at the Sacramento City shelter told me about this 4-6 year old Chihuahua boy who had been at the shelter since Christmas. Another perfectly adoptable Chihuahua at a California shelter."He's so cute and smiles!" Jeanne told me. She kept moving him around the shelter trying to show him off so he might find a home, but after 3 months, his time was up. I took him home and the first night he slept completely under his little blankets. When I called to him, he crawled out and gave me one of his heart melting grins.
Fostered in Grass Valley.

Milo NCAR # 745
Milo and family
Milo is a 12 month old happy go lucky little boy who has been through puppy obedience, likes to run fast, catch a ball and wrestle with Daisy. He was surrendered because he was too much for the senior toy poodle to handle, and his family couldnt give him the exercise and stimulation he needs.
He's a bit skiddish sometimes around certain visitors to the Sanctuary. I've not been able to pin point why he's afraid of some people, and not others. For the most part, he's fine with strangers if they take their time and he's on a leash and can't run. Hes a leggy, skinny boy and loves to give kisses! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Jack NCAR # 749
Jack and family
Jack is a darling, smart red merle who turns 1 year old on July 31. He was given to a family by a friend who was moving, and the son in the family is highly allergic to him.hence his short coat! With great sadness, they asked us to find Jack a great home.
Jack is good with children and all people, loves to play fetch, and will chase cats. He's about 51 pounds and starved for attention. He's a nice boy who sometimes jumps up for attention, but that can subside with training and lots of exercise. He learns fast and is very loving!
Fostered in Grass Valley.

Katie NCAR #739
Katie and family
Kate is a yellow Aussie who is 4 years old. We rescued her and her brother, Polo from Bakersfield. She grew up with 8 and 10 year old children, had no formal training, leash walks or car rides. Consequently, everything she sees out in the world gets her excited! She will pull and bark on a leash when she sees other dogs coming, but she's getting better with the help of her foster parents in Fremont.
Kate is about 50 lbs. and has a natural bob. She seems interested in cats but is good about being corrected. She seems totally sweet and groundedeven around passing cars and trains! She's fairly mellow.
Fostered in Freemont.
