VINNIE NCAR #20
Vinnie is a 2-3 year old Cairn Terrier mix we rescued from sick bay at the Stanislaus County shelter in Martinez. Those of you who know my Edgar understand why we had to take him in.hes very close to being Eds twin!

Hes friendly to everyone, and follows visitors down the driveway and jumps into their cars! He will do anything to follow me or be with me....so he's not a dog to stay hours alone in a back yard. He plays with dogs nicely, is affectionate, always under foot and a great 8 pound pocket dog! Housebroken, too! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Bianca NCAR Pup #21
Bianca is a 5-6 year old Cairn Terrier mix who was in sick bay at the Sacramento County Shelter. She was found trotting along a busy street and brought to the shelter where she waited a week for her people to com e for her. Her skin is dry and shes very thin, so she was not made available to the public and was marked rescue only.

Shes thin at 10 pounds, likes car rides, enjoys being held and gives kisses. Shes fine with all the dogs at the Sanctuary, albeit a bit overwhelmed. This is an adorable pocket dog who is deserving of a loving home. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Rex
Rex is a neutered male, blue merle who turned 3 on 11/2/2006 Hes about 50 pounds, and was purchased as a puppy from Coffee Pot Ranch in Sheridan, CA. Hes had no formal obedience training, but was taught many tricks and commands like: Sit, Stay, Lay, Leave it (put the treat on his nose at he'll let it sit there until you give the release command.) "OK" is the release command. Say "easy" and he will take the food very gently. He sleeps in his kennel in his own room inside. Hes a bit cautious around other dogs because he was jumped as a puppy. He loves all people and wants to say Hi to all strangers. Hes stubborn and will flip his head around and look like hes going to bite his owner when she grabs his collar to pull him or otherwise force him to do things. This is probably due to lack of training, but he is not an Aussie for children.

When strangers come to his home, he gets very excited and barks. He wants everyone to play with him and give him attention. Hes barky in the car alone, but hes not been crated in the car. Rex gets protective over his food if another dog is there. The dog tried to get the bone. Rex took it away. He also has growled when his owner tried to take a bone he was invested in away. His owner lives in a duplex and landlord has received complaints about his barking outside when shes at work. Animal Control has been contacted and she has no other choice but to give up Rex and feels it would be best he went to a home where hed get the exercise, attention and training he deserves. Rex is in Sacramento. If interested in fostering or adopting, please submit an application.

Lady
Lady is about 1 year old, spayed and friendly. She just showed up one day on a family's property near Turlock. She lives outside with an Aussie and a cat and likes to play fetch. She's a good girl who would like to live with another playful dog. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

***ADOPTED***
Sadie

Sadie is about a 2 yr old Aussie mix. She's red merle in coloring, but her body is very lean, as if perhaps she's mixed with Setter or Border Collie. She came from the Merced County shelter and her adopters didn't have enough time for her and a kind neighbor took her in rather than see her returned to the shelter.

She's current on vaccines and sleeps in a crate in the house at night. She comes when called, sits, is learning to walk on leash and loves other dogs!

She's a bit skittish with strangers, but very submissive and sweet with children - she rolls on her back for tummy rubs. She can be destructive when not exercised, and will chew things if left unattended for long periods of time. She chases squirrel and birds, and chased the cats until trained not to, but she never caught or injured anything. She's currently living with a dog and 4 cats. Loves trips to the dog park and squeaky toys, but they don't last long! Fostered in Elk Grove near Sacramento. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Mr. Magoo
Mr. Magoo is a neutered male Chihuahua, between 12 and 14 years of age. His last owner was forced to give him up when her family moved out of the country. He is now in foster care waiting for his forever home to come along. Although he is getting on in years Mr. Magoo is still quite active and able-bodied for his age. He is very social with people of all ages and enjoys the company of other dogs his size. He is generally very quiet in the house and loves to just curl up on the couch or in your lap. He would do best in a home where he could spend lots of time with his owner/family and go for regular short walks. Mr. Magoo is up to date on shots and microchipped. A small adoption fee will apply to ensure that he goes to the right home.

Lenny NCAR #653
Lenny is a gorgeous, amber-eyed, 7 year old black tri. His owner was no longer able to care for him and so we took him in. Hes ultra sensitive to thunder and fireworks, indifferent to strangers and very easy going, yet loyal and affectionate towards me.
Hes not playful with other dogs, but doesnt mind living amongst them. Hes gone on a few hikes with us, but never leaves my side, nor have I seen him run. Hes m-e-l-l-o-w! He did take a shallow dip in the lake, but mostly to drink. Lenny is fostered in Grass Valley.

Cassie NCAR #655
Cassie is an 8 year old black tri who was purchased as a puppy. Shes about 50 pounds, friendly, good with children and a bit bossy around other dogs. Shes been well taken care of, but her owner is ill and no longer able to care for Cassie. She does a little counter surfing, but thats about her only bad habit! She likes kids, loves to play fetch either with a ball or Frisbee and would love to be an only dog soaking up all the attention. She would benefit from an obedience class with her next person - she's a smart cookie! Cassie is fostered at the Sanctuary.

Reese NCAR #651 and Melanie NCAR #650
Reese(left) and Melanie (right) are 10 month old sisters who were picked up by San Jose Animal Control. We believe they are Aussie/BC mixes. They are unbelievably loving and sweet and com pletely devoted to each other. Reese has better vision than Melanie and both are com pletely deaf. They run around the Sanctuary will total abandon and are quite agile.

They are still puppies and sometimes get into potted plants or books on my shelves, but I can correct them easily. THEY LOVE the kiddy pools and playing tug of war with each other as well as the other playful Aussies at the Sanctuary. They are all love, all the time and I would consider adopting them to the same home IF they get the individual training they need. They walk easily on a leash because they want to be near their person they like to touch and be touched. Fostered in Grass Valley .

Sunshine NCAR #645
Sunny turned 5 years old on March 13, 2010. Shes an adorable mini black tri who chased one of the 4 cats in her home....not all of them! She lived with children ages 10 and up, is fine around other dogs, and all people. She is very spry...Agility anyone???

She is very affectionate, agile and wants to be near me at all times. She would do well in an obedience class with her new person as she's "self trained" and finds it perfectly OK to jump up on my dining room table to look out the window! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Get your magnifying glass! Pico is a 4-5 month old mini or toy Aussie who was a stray at the Placer County shelter. No one came for him. Hes cuddly, about 11 pounds, cute as a bug and teeny!! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Miles NCAR #576
Miles and Sally are loving life together in Vallejo. Miles gets to go hiking in open space, go to the dog park and be with Sally 24/7. Thats the perfect scenario for him! Watch their YouTube Video!

Miles is a 9 year old, 50 lb. red tri who lived in San Francisco for the past 7 years. When he was rescued from a shelter he was 1 or 2 years old and had severe separation anxiety. His family was able to take him to work with them for the first 5 years, but then things changed and he was often left alone and he became destructive and anxious. He was on calming drugs up until he was surrendered to us in July. We've weaned him off the drugs, give him plenty of exercise and he is less anxious to the point where I think we can find him a home where he can be happy. He wants to be with his person, so leaving him alone for long periods of time is not good for him.

He's very good around all dogs and people. He's good off leash, on leash, rides well in the car, although wouldn't do well left alone in one for too long unless crated. He is crate trained. I've been taking him along on errands and so far, he's just fine for up to an hour in the car.then he'll bark. It probably helps that other Aussies are with him. Miles is a nice, nice boy who gets along nicely here at the Sanctuar. I take him almost everywhere with m, and that suits him fine! OK with cats. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Link NCAR #659
Linda and Ken loved Links loving and mellow nature. They lost their Aussie awhile back and found Link to be a perfect match for their lifestyle. Lucky Link will be with Linda and Ken in Clayton most of the time and get to go hiking and on car trips often.

This darling red tri boy was rescued from the Fresno SPCA just hours before his life would have ended. Hes a very social, sweet boy who is on the timid side, but likes everyone he meets. Hes being fostered in Walnut Creek and walks very well on a lead and likes cats! What a guy! Hes only a year or 18 months old, and just darling. Fostered in Walnut Creek.

Portia, NCAR #664
Portia is exactly what you hope an Aussie should be: happy, wiggly, playful, ignores cats, loving. She came to us from the Tehama County shelter where she tested positive for heartworm. She had to be rescued or put down.

We are happy to report that because of your support, we rescued her and will give her heartworm treatment. Treatment costs about $500, and shell be ready for her new home early September. This amber-eyed girl is about 2 years old and just a doll. Fostered in Sacramento.

Bear
Bear is a 2 year old darling Aussie mix who loves the 3, 7 and 9 year old in his home. They moved to a home without a yard and the landlord wont let him in the house, so hes been running loose, chasing cars and getting into trouble. He needs a home or foster home ASAP. Hes in Redding

Ella
Ella is looking for a new home. She is in Lewiston , ID , and her family feels she would be better off with a family or rescue that has the knowledge and time to train and care for her. Ella is 9 months old and deaf. She hasnt been formerly trained and is a bit freaked out with all the stimulation of 3 small children in her home. She simply needs someone who will give her some training.

Zeeb NCAR #634
Gary and Jeanie love Zeeb's calm and funny demeanor Zeeb's loves all the attention and loves to lick Jeanies toes!! Win Win!!!

Zeeb came up to a front porch out in the country near Stockton in mid April. The kind folks attempted to find his owner and had him checked for a microchip but this boy was clearly abandoned. He was very shy at first; afraid of com ing into the house, noises, the broom, you name it..hed bolt. But his people have worked with him, brought him into the house, got him neutered, utd on shots, dewormed and heartworm tested. Hes acclimating wonderfully and sleeps on his bed in their bedroom at night, can walk on a leash, doesnt freak at strangers and actually took a treat from the UPS driver.

Zeeb is only 37 pounds, his tail is a natural bob and we think hes an Aussie-Cattle Dog cross. Hes extremely smart, trusting, sweet, and calm. Fostered in French Camp. The people are leaving the state end of May and we need to find him a temporary or permanent home soon!
