Nicky NCAR #XXX

Nicky went home to Sacramento and will start puppy obedience classes with Cindy and "THE RIGHT STEPS" on Jan 9. This smarty pants whom we saved from euthanasia will have a very bright future!

***ADOPTED***

Misty NCAR #XXX

Misty lives in Grass Valley and has a brother and sister who like to play as much as she does!

***ADOPTED***

Carson NCAR #870

Carson lives with Dede in Aptos. She'll take him to her office as well as a beach run every day!

Carson was an intact male who slept in the garage and spent the day in the back yard in his former home. His people dropped off at the Sacramento SPCA because "they were moving." He was stressed and we were asked to rescue him. When I picked him up, he didn't look at me, just kept staring at the kennel attendant with whom he had presumably bonded during his 10 day stay there.

He's 8 years old, about 57 pounds, and now neutered. He's very bonded to me, obedient, and likes to play fetch, yet hangs in the living room on a dog bed for hours. He's a gentle boy, likes off leash hikes, will jump into anyone's car, and played gently and sweetly with a 10 week-old puppy. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Bill
Bill is an 8 year old mini blue merle who weighs about 35 lbs. He's been a constant companion for a woman who lost her job and home. She worked from home and played with Bill all day, including tug, ball and long runs and swims at the river. Bill also LOVES playing with her grandkids. He's a barky boy and has some leash and fence aggression with other dogshe even barks at other dogs from the car. He absolutely loves the water and swimming! We'd like to find a similar living situation for Bill. He lives with another dog and plays nicely with him. Contact Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

***ADOPTED 12/18***
Ginger
Ginger is a 7-year-old, spayed Chihuahua who needs a new home. Her family has a 9-month-old baby and Ginger has shown some aggression with the baby and other small children- baring teeth and nipping. I have had Ginger under my care when her owners are out of town and she is fine with all adults, other dogs and cats. She is not very active, likes to sit on the bed and cuddle, and is in good health. Fostered in Walnut Creek.

Tonka
Tonka is a beautiful 5-year-old black tri who knows sit, stay, go to bed, outside, and get up (into car). He will make a great companion to someone who lives a quiet life, as he's not particularly trustworthy around visitors or people coming and going.

He lives with a family that owns a restaurant, motel and campground, and they are not able to manage him the way he needs to be managed around strangers. He needs plenty of exercise and attention and a peaceful home. Tonka is in Bridgeport, near Minden, NV. Application required.

Shadow NCAR #899
Shadow is an 8-year-old, 65-pound Aussie with his tail, who we placed with a couple almost 3 years ago. He was a great joy for them: got to play fetch on their grassy lawn and laid at their feet in front of the fire.He was the couple's constant companion. Sadly, the wife passed away and her husband moved to a place where Shadow wasn't able to live.

Shadow likes all people, is easy-going, loves fetch, is quiet if left in the yard alone, and easy to have in the house. He doesn't like dogs grrring in his face, and postures with big male dogs, but has done really well here with our easy-going foster kids. He would do best as an only dog, or can live with an easy-going female dog. I'm not sure if he would chase cats.
He was absolutely wonderful being groomed, until we scared him with the blow dryer! He loves car rides, too! He's a darling boy and I know he would love being part of a family again. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Zoey NCAR #901

Zoey is an 14-month-old Aussie who came into the Madera Shelter as a stray. She's all sweetness and love, friendly, and completely deaf. Her eyesight is good, and she responds well to hand signals. She graduated from obedience class and is a complete joy. She plays nicely with other dogs and is gentle soul. Fostered in Grass Valley.

ADOPTED 12/16

Thumbelina AKA Bean NCAR #XXX

Thumbelina lives in Roseville and has a "big" sister and is loved by Joan who has been owned by Chihuahuas for the past 25 years!

This 4-lb. girl has had almost every bone in her body broken...... yet she is sweet, loving and ambulatory...she even plays with the other little ones here. She came into the Sacramento SPCA as a stray and they immediately did XRAYS on her which showed her tiny, broken body. Both arms, each bone in her paws, her pelvis, and more had been broken and healed incorrectly. Her femur was out of her hip socket, too. The SPCA arranged for free hip surgery for her, and a Chihuahua rescue group would take her afterwards.

Because the SPCA was very full, their rescue coordinator asked if we would care for her until surgery was arranged. After we took this teensie girl in, the free hip surgery and then consequently the Chihuahua rescue group fell through. What would you do? Exactly! We asked our fabulous orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bertoy to perform the surgery. Not many surgeons have the tiny instruments required to do hip surgery for a 4-pound dog! Dr. Bertoy, all the vets at Sacramento Animal Hospital and I are amazed at how spry and darling this girl is after living her whole life with pain.

Surgery went well, she's recovering fast here at the Sanctuary and we've paid her $1,500 vet bill. (Thank you Sacramento Animal Hospital for our discount!) She's maybe 4 years old, snuggly, doesn't take guff from the Aussies, plays sweetly with Murphy, Clancy and the other pocket dogs. She goes up and down stairs to my bed easily and hesitates at every door opening..we're thinking the door was shut on her a few times.

Please help us pay for Thumbelina's surgery

Fostered in Grass Valley. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com
