Natalie Serena's Pups
Natalie and her family
These are not purebred Aussies. Serena, their mom (in January gallery) is a purebred Aussie, but Pop might be a German Shepherd or shepherd mix...we just don't know, but we do know all the pups are smart, fun and healthy!
Puppies were born on 11/29 at the Sanctuary. They were 12 weeks old on 2/22. This photo is already 3 weeks old! The girls are not huge - in fact, little Trixie is almost as big as Natalie, and she' s 3 weeks younger!
We have 1 female pup left. Natalie is fawn and black with cute markings and white socks. She's friendly, outgoing and follows people and plays well with Trixie and any dog who will play with her! She will need to continue her house-training, and should sleep in a crate at night, or an X Pen with many trips outside during the day to potty.
At 16 weeks after they've had their shots, we require that they go to puppy obedience/socialization class. At the Sanctuary, they get along fine with all the dogs, but we have no cats...so we don't know how they'll be with them.
Adoption donation is $150, with a $250 spay/neuter deposit. Pups have had 2 booster shots, deworming and vet exam. They are all very healthy!

He came into the Madera Shelter as a stray....no one claimed him.

Tanner, NCAR #531
Tanner lives just down the road from the Sanctuary with Laura and Chuck and their kids! Tanner just wiggled his way into their hearts and into their home! He acts as if hed always lived theresuch a happy boy!
This black tri boy was at the Sacramento County Animal Shelter and was shaved down because of flea bite dermititis. We rescued him 9/26 and he's doing well at the Sanctuary. He's about 8 years old, deaf and has a lazy left eye.
He's easy going, loves all people, especially male visitors to the Sanctuary. He's playing with lots of dogs now, but still likes to be the only one being petted by visitors! He's easy as pie to have around. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Rosie NCAR # 530
Rosie and her family
Rosie is a nicely behaved, child-friendly 2 year old red tri. The living situation changed in her home and her owners couldnt found that they no longer had any time for her...no walks or outings, and no more trips to the dog park. They asked us to find her a great new home where shell get lots of time with people and plenty of exercise.
Rosie Berry is respectful of cats, plays well with other dogs, but when she's invested in a toy, will pick a fight with another dog who wants it. She's not over the top active.she can settle nicely. A trip to the dog park daily and a leash walk would be fine for her. Rosie is only 43 pounds, put together nicely and very light on her feet. Shes graduated from a basic obedience class, and is attentive and sweet. She would probably like to learn agility.
Rosie's achilles heel is that she doesnt always come when called and likes to play a game of keep awayso that should be worked on! It's not like she goes to the next county, but she'll go across the street, a couple of doors down and make you work hard at getting her back. So no busy streets where she could get out the front door. This darling girl is fostered in Grass Valley.

Curly
This is Curley, a very sweet boy. Poor guy is just trying to figure out what has happened to him in the last week. His owner died, and he and some others from his pack are now stuck in the shelter. Curley is about 2 years old, weighs 48lbs. and is negative for heartworm disease. He was quite frightened by the whole shelter experience for a while but is really coming around now. We just know that with the right family, and some love and attention, he will continue to blossom. Curley seems way more interested in us human folks and just wants to sit by your feet. He is a handsome and friendly Aussie looking for a warm and loving home. Curley has tons of potential, and if you love Aussies, Curley is your man! He will need to be neutered upon adoption.
Contact: Calaveras County Animal Services at (209) 754-6509. When you call or come in, PLEASE ask for this dog by its adoption number A018890. Or email us at ederetiree@yahoo.com

Dimitri NCAR# 521
Dimitri and his family
Dimitri is a 31 pound, 4-5 year old Aussie who we rescued from the Madera County shelter. He is a very nice boy and likes to show affection. Dimitri stays very close when walking.
He has a beautiful coat that we've groomed. He's still timid about coming through doorways, but has made great strides in the past 2 weeks and loves sleeping in the living room. He doesn't need another dog to be happy, but can certainly live with one who isn't all about the play!

Andy NCAR Puppy #03
Andy and Mom
Andy is an 8 week old Aussie or Aussie/BC mix puppy that came into the Sutter County shelter someone turned him in for reasons unknown.
He's a busy, assertive boy who should have an adult as his primary handler...he's no push over, but corrects easily. He's just adorable, smart and quick to learn...I think he'd be too reactive to small children.
He's the step brother staying with Serenas pups and is available now. Cute little boy!

Rufuss
My name is Rufuss and I am looking for a new home as my mommy had to move to Los Angeles and she could not take me with her. I am currently living at my grandmas house but she is never home and her backyard is much to small for me. I am a 3 1/2 year old mix breed. I love the water and playing Frisbee. I would love a home with a big back yard but most importantly I just want to be loved. I have a lot of energy but I am a good boy. I know the basic commands and am completely house broken. I bark when strangers come to the house or near our car and am a good watch dog! Rufuss is in Sacramento.
