January 2014 Recently Adopted Aussies

The list of adopted aussies is growing fast! Wonderful for the dogs but hard to show all on one page. We have split up the past adoptions by month. Use the links to see all our wonderful adoptions and adoptions we have assisted.

Pinto is a 6-year-old Border Collie or Aussie with his full tail. He's gorgeous, about 55 pounds, and came to us from Idaho with his sister Bunny. (see above) He follows his person everywhere, is sweet with everyone he meets and would do well going through an obedience class. He likes to play fetch and doesn't seem particularly food motivated. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Bunny NCAR #908
Bunny is a 6 year old, 45 pound Blue Merle Aussie, or possibly mixed with Border Collie, with her tail. Bunny came to us from Idaho where she was posted Free to Good Home with her brother, Pinto (see below). She's very needy, and will solicit hugs and kisses by putting her paws up on anyone who lets her! She was an outside dog, had several litters of puppies, follows me everywhere, and is learning to have fun around the Sanctuary. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Clancy, NCAR # 793

This 15 pound King Charles Cavalier/ Mini Aussie/Chihuahua/Monkey boy came into the Yuba County shelter as a stray over a year ago. He's about 3 years old, plays fetch, is a cuddle bug, housebroken, crate trained, playful with the other playful dogs and follows me everywhere…which is why he almost caused me to have a heart attack.

I walked to my car and looked up the driveway and saw him literally climb up our 6 foot chain link gate. As he was perched up there, I snapped this photo from my iphone – it's not great, but I certainly wasn't going to have him do it again just to get a better photo! He then jumped down and trotted to me and made it clear why he was a stray and why he was returned to the shelter twice.

He's a great apartment dog, and probably would not get out of a solid wood fence, but I leave him in the house when I have to go anywhere and he does just fine - he loves his crate, too! He likes car rides and cats! I love this little boy! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Dutch NCAR #851
After 2.5 years having a great time with her new mom, Dutch came back to us because her Mom is no longer able to care for her. She has blossomed, put on some weight, but is still reluctant to come to strangers. She loves to play fetch, is good on leash, crate trained, OK with cats and loves the car and her crate.

She's now 9 1/2 years old, but no one would guess it! She's still fastest to the tennis ball and quite energetic. She is still VERY skittish and will bolt or head for the nearest open car door if startled. She's a one person sort of Aussie! She's was one of the 60+ Aussies we took from the Puppy Mill in El Dorado County in 2006, and weighs about 38 lbs. Fostered in Grass Valley.

***ADOPTED 1/3/14***
JetJet is about 18 months old and was rescued 7 months ago from a shelter where he was scheduled to be put down due to his demodex, a skin condition. His rescuer treated him and he's just fine now, although still slightly scarred. He may be an Aussie mix – we're not certain.

His rescuer is a dog trainer and has been working with him on basic manners, leash walking, and now he's learning off-leash commands. Jet is very loving and athletic. He needs mental stimulation and regular daily physical activity. He's devoted, bouncy and silly, and is also a major counter surfer!

Jet is in Brentwood, near Antioch. Application required.
