Lass NCAR #548
Lass went home with Bobbie and Scott to Grass Valley , where they have 10 shaded acres with plenty of room for playing fetch! They also live next to the Bear River so Lass can go swimming anytime she likes. Scott works from home, and will have Lass by his side pretty much all day.
Lassie is a 5 year old Aussie/BC girl we rescued from the Fremont Animal Shelter in March. She lived with a family with a teenaged daughter since she was a pup. They recently moved to a mobile home park where Lass couldnt run around freely. She was tied outside often, and neighboring kids would tease her. She finally nipped at a young boy who taunted her and so we were asked to find her a home where she had more room to play fetch and wouldn't have to be tied out.
She loves, loves, LOVES to play fetch and is very focused on bringing the ball back to me. Shes slightly bossy around other dogs and her food, but mostly other fetching, bossy females! She has lived with cats and quiets down in the house. She is very solid, would be happiest as an only dog (or living with a laid back male), and is very loving. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Paddy NCAR # 551
Theres a giant hole at the Sanctuary now that Paddy was adopted. My Paddy-O is a wonderful and resilient boy who is so deserving of a great life, and he has that once again. He now lives with Joanne and his new sister Gracie on a 20 acre ranch near Lake Tahoe . Hell always be with them, never left alone, just like his former home. We had just finished a hike and a swim when this photo was taken. Hes a happy, happy boy!
Paddy is the happiest 70 pound Aussie you'll ever meet! I call him Paddy'O and the life of any party! He will be 8 years old 10/10/09 and is a gorgeous
blue merle who loves toddlers, kids of all ages, all people, & dogs but chases most cats.
He's a good watch dog and has a big bark when someone comes to the door, but
it's all wiggles and love after the person enters.
His owner died and asked that we find a great home for Paddy. He has a rash on his nose that is being treated with meds and sunscreen - it has improved....but may always be there. This darling boy is doing great at the Sanctuary and likes both mental stimulation and physical activity. He a very friendly, smart, and curious boy! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Luigi NCAR#444
Happy Luigi
Luigi is a cute, small, blue merle Border Collie or possibly BC/Aussie mix with his long tail. He's about 2 years old and maybe 38 pounds. He's intense about chasing things and spends a lot of time trotting around the Sanctuary...we think he may have OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). I can call him "off", but he'll go right back to trotting around with his nose to the ground. He loves to snuggle in the morning and hops up on the bed for hugs!
I would VERY much like to find him a home where he'll get plenty of exercise and learn to focus on herding or have something constructive to do with his drive and temperament. I think teaching him to focus on a task would be a great thing! He is a fabulous endurance runner and could be someone's training buddy. He stays a little in front, and would scare off any wildlife that might be on or near the trail! Once he's bonded, he's very true to his person.
He fetches nicely, comes when called and is very sweet with all people. He was surrendered to the Sonoma County Shelter because his owners were moving and couldn't take him. He's a busy boy who needs daily exercise and mental stimulation, yet he can settle inside at night. He crates well. I love this little boy! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Jasper
Jasper is a 3-4 year old Aussie mix. He's high energy and lived with a SPCA-certified trainer. He's come a long way
since he was adopted from the Paradise Shelter almost 2 years ago. He knows
Sit, down, go to crate, no bark, leave it, do business, and Off.
He has access to the house and yard through a doggie door. He does bark at
things on the other side of the fence.....he is easily stimulated.
The only reason he needs to find a new home is that he is cat aggressive...a
behavior that isn't improving. Jasper can live with easy-going dogs who
don't care that he likes to steal toys! He loves to get a chewie and go in
his crate and he loves his big dog pillow. He loves car rides and walks.
Jasper is a very nice dog who will chase chickens and cats. Jasper is in Oroville. Contact Sherry Clark at 530-566-1966 or brainydog@earthlink.net

Poppy, NCAR Pup#13
Poppy lives with Barbie and Jack in Redwood City. They were looking for a Cavalier, but when they saw Poppys photo, they fell in love! She starts obedience class next week.
Poppy was found injured in the street in Stockton. The family who picked her up tried to find her owners, but to no avail. She loved their 18 month old son and was fine around their other dogs. Shes about 16 pounds and we think shes a spaniel mix, but we KNOW shes adorable! She likes other dogs, wants to be in your lap, like a King Charles Cavalier, and is about a year old. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Smokey NCAR #566
Smokey is adopted!
Smokey was in an outdoor, make shift kennel 24/7 for most of the year. Neighbors would walk by and talk to him and hed try to sniff them through the fence boards. As you can see, he chewed many away so he could see people. Finally, a very concerned neighbor called me and offered to try and buy him from the family if we would take him. We agreed, and Smokey arrived at the Sanctuary July 3.
Smokey is most likely a neutered Aussie-Border Collie mix and probably under 2 years old. He has a natural bob tail, is tall and lanky and just a delight. He seems housebroken, wants to follow me around and although there are acres for him to run around on, he stays close! He is learning he can run with the pack, and has tried it a few times and he seems to look at me as if to say, "Hey! This is fun is it ok that I do this?"
This is a terrific boy, very smart and loves all people. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Sheila NCAR #563
After months of hoping to find the perfect home for her, I shed some tears of joy watching her go home with Karen and Sophie, a mini blue merle. Sheila lives in Shell Beach where it’s cool and she can play and run on the beach. Everyone who meets her pets and hugs her, and that suits Sheila just fine.
Sheila is a well mannered, sweet and gorgeous 8 year old black tri. She has lived with a 7 year old boy and is fine with other dogs. Shed love to be someones constant companion as she loves car rides and exploring walking trails. She had her ACL replaced in February and has recuperated very well.
Shes about 55 pounds and perfectly put together. She is fun, likes her stuffed toys, luvs treats and food, and actually jumped up to catch an English Muffin that popped out of the toaster! She's a wonderful girl. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Pumpkin
Pumpkin is an 8 month old red merle born on Sept 25, 2008. She's spayed and
is a graduate of puppy obedience and beginner obedience class. She also
began a rally class. She knows sit, down, come, and stay. She is crate
trained, too. She loves children and can get a little amped when playing
with them, so we think children over 12 would be best. She also still chews
a lot! Socks, toys and anything she can reach on the counter!
She's pretty mouthy and needs someone to channel her enthusiasm and energy.
She's strong willed and should have an experienced handler.
Pumpkin's owners asked us for help because she is fighting with the 5 year
old male Aussie in her home. She's beautiful and incredibly smart and could
be a star at rally or agility or both! Pumpkin is in Martinez.

Sampson
Sampson lives with John and Aldina in Castro Valley. He has a new sister Sammi, the ornery Jack Russell terrier! He has a huge yard to hang around in and will go on early morning hikes with John, who is thrilled to have his first Aussie.
Sampson is a very nice, sweet, 50 pound blue merle. Hes 5 years old, neutered, up to date with shots. Hes good with kids and adults, although he may be a bit much for babies & toddlers because of his size & enthusiasm. He is not good with other male dogs particularly in close quarters.
He does have a lot of energy but eventually settles down, is eager to please, and should be easy to train.
We met him on a running track, and he didn't try to chase the other walkers or joggers and actually befriended a walker.
His owner is elderly and owns Sampsons brother with whom he does not get along. Keeping them separate is too difficult for her, so she asked us to rehome him. We would like to find him a foster or permanent home asap.

Bear is approximately 2 years old and about 55 pounds.
He was adopted from a rescue group near Clovis, and is a very good boy who
knows Sit, lie down and stay. He lives on 40 acres and loves to play with
other dogs and is very gentle with small dogs and puppies. He's friendly
with strangers and children. He's fine in the house alone and rides well in
the car.
This jewel of a boy is being rehomed because he has killed a few cats in his
home and cannot be trusted. He's lived with cows and horses and is fine with
them. Owners are very sad, but cannot keep him any longer. Bear is in
Friant, near Fresno. His situation is urgent, if you can foster or adopt

Roscoe NCAR #512
Roscoe is from the mini Aussie puppy mill in Washington that was shut down by authorities. Roscoe is very shy, but not fear aggressive. He is doing fine with other dogs, and does his "HAPPY DANCE" when I come home and is becoming quite a character...but it's taken time for him to relax. He still won't take a treat from my hand.....not even a piece of steak!
Roscoe is a 3-4 year old, 19 pound mini red tri. Hes neutered, microchipped and utd on his shots. His perfect home would be where someone will be with him most of the time, take him places on leash, and help him over come some of his shyness. He's crate trained. Fostered in Walnut Creek.
