Dodger NCAR #641
Dodger goes home

Dodger is a friendly, 45 pound black tri who was picked up as a stray. Hes friendly to strangers and kids alike, will chase cats, and can live with a bossy female Aussie who wont allow him to guard his tennis ball, WHICH HE LOVES! He also loves rocks his love is actually an obsession, so he cannot live in a place that with rocks. His teeth are already worn down at such a young age. So fetching is the best alternative.

Hes a bit independent off leash, unless with his pack. Hes wiggly, happy and just darling. Hes come a long way in his foster home, and he should go through an obedience class or two in his new home. Fostered in Sacramento.

Daisy, NCAR # 741
Daisy was a gift for a teenager who raised her as a puppy, then moved into her grand parents' home where Daisy was banished to the back yard. Daisy turned 1 year old July 4 and is very sweet and ready for an obedience class or two. She's low key and seemss housebroken.

We had her spayed and brought utd on shots since. Shes healthy, loving, very beautiful and likes to play fetch, chase Milo and ask anyone for pets! Fostered in Grass Valley.

***ADOPTED 7/24***

Kaia NCAR# 731
Kaia means pure and we think Kaia is a "pure delight"! She's a cute and energetic, 45 pound black tri who turned 3 in June. She has had two rounds of obedience training and knows basic commands but is an energetic girl who has trouble staying still or focused for more than a short while! She's eager to play, get petted or see who is coming! As energetic as she is though, she LOVES to cuddle next to her person on the couch and will stay a long time!

She jumps up when excited and she barks when the door bell rings. She is very friendly towards strangers in her home or on walks and eager to get pets. She goes to the dog park daily and runs, runs, and runs! She plays hard with other dogs, and loves to play fetch with anything you will throw!

She is great and very gentle with babies. She lived with a 9 month old and was great with her - but she can run after toddlers and young children if off leash. She is also powervul, so we think she'd do best with kids over 10. She loves car rides and every person she encounters.

This is a great little Aussie girl who has drive yet will cuddle on the couch. NO CATS!

Fostered in Grass Valley. Fostered in Grass Valley .

Ivy, NCAR #743

Ivy was spotted living in the Ivy along I 5 in South Sacramento. Many neighbors tried to lure her into their car and later when she appeared in the neighborhood, tried to lure her into their homes. She eluded capture for almost 6 weeks.

During a thunder storm, she came up to a womans front door and the woman opened the door and in she went! Shes opening up now and is a mellow, sweet girl who appears to be about 2 years old. We believe her to be a Border Collie mixed with a larger breed, but hard to guess. Shes about 50 pounds. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Volton NCAR #XXX and Kabalas NCAR #XXX

These black tri brothers are 10 years young and in great shape. They are both very loving and cuddly, and Kabalas is the leader and is a bit headstrong; Volton goes with the flow. They grew up with 6 year old children and were part of the family. They've been well loved and trained and even have their own Halloween costumes for trick or treating! They know: stay, sit, speak, High 5, kisses, Leave it. They both can live with cats and want to play with them. They will, however, take advantage of too soft an owner as they are a team! They will also herd small, running children, so kids over 12 are best.

They've lived most of their lives in an apartment, are great on leash walks, and haven't had off leash time. They've slept together in a giant crate, are OK in the car and are very bonded. These brothers are in Plano, Texas and we hope to find them a foster or permanent home together soon. Their family has split and no one is in the financial position to care for them. Transportation can be provided.

***ADOPTED***
Bailey ID# 2941137
Lake County Animal Services

Mature, friendly herding dog

Bailey is a friendly, happy mature female whose former owner had health problems and had to re-home Bailey.

Bailey has a strong prey drive. When she goes to the dog park, she chases the dogs who are chasing balls. But she has no interest in chasing a ballshe wants to chase live, running things. Which means you probably shouldnt have cats, rabbits, birds, etc. in your home if you adopt Bailey. She doesnt appear to be dangerous to the animals she stares at and pesters, but she has a herding dogs persistence and focus.

Not sure how she is with children; as with any new dog, you should be cautious. When Bailey chases she doesnt use her mouth, and since shes getting on in years and has kind of short legs, she isnt all that fast of a runner. However, she will tell a dog who is annoying her to knock it off, with growls and snaps. She isnt a fighter, and she isnt particularly int erested in other dogsunless theyre runningand she doesnt play/wrestle with them at the dog park.

Bailey is happy to get in the car, hang her head out the window and go places. If allowed, she will lead you on walks, at the end of her leash, but she doesnt pull badly. Off leash, she is very good about staying close and she comes when called.

Bailey is housebroken and is not interested in being on the furniture. She is calm in the house unless shes trying to goad the cat into running. She doesnt jump up on people, and is happy to be petted and talked to, but isnt needy and demanding.

Contact: Lake County Animal Services to schedule a time to meet or find out about adoption events.

Shiloh NCAR #718
Shiloh adopted
Shiloh came to us from Arizona. He is a 3 year old and just delightful! Sadly, his owner is ill and asked if we might help him find a great home. He can live with cats, with children and is housebroken. He will counter surf which doesnt help his weight loss program! Shiloh is still about 5 pounds overweight, but is slowly slimming down. He's a great boy and loves everyone.

Shiloh is with me at the Sanctuary in Grass Valley.

Lady
Lady is the perfect match for Joanne who wanted a calm and gentle Aussie. Lady is great with Joannes grandchildren and happy in Lincoln.

Champ is 13 and utterly delightful, sweet, and easy-going. He belies his age, has bright eyes and good hearing.

His owners have serious health issues and had to move to assisted living where no dogs are allowed. Champ was loved and well cared for. My heart melts when he looks into my eyes. Champ lived with cats, children and is smart, housebroken and well behaved. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Gus, NCAR #736
Gus went home to Antioch with Diane today. She wanted a calm, smaller dog and Gus exceeded her expectations! Hell start obedience classes in a few days and get to be with Dianne 100% of the time. Lucky Gus!

Augustus is a Decker Terrier mostly Rat terrier bred with other breeds like Besinji since the 1970s. Who knows why, but if you look up Decker Terrier, youll see kids that look just like Gus! Hes 30 pounds, only 7 months old and is calm and friendly, but does not know a thing, not even his name. His owner didnt teach him anything and did not want him anymore. A neighbor (who also fosters for us) intervened and asked us if he could bring Gus here. We had Augustus neutered, and his hernia repaired. Im learning about him every dayhes not like an Aussie hes WAY too calm! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Rocket, NCAR #735
Rocket adopted

Rocket got into the neighbors chicken coop once too many times! Contra Costa County Animal Control took him away and the owners knew that they couldnt keep him out of their neighbors yard, so for his own safety, asked us for help.

Gwen, one of our volunteers met his owner at the shelter and brought Rocket to Grass Valley. He fit in immediately, flashed his toothy grin and got the lay of the land. Hes 7 years old, lived with kids and other dogs and is an all around sweetheart. Hes crate trained and housebroken-we dont know how he is with cats. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Polo NCAR #740
Polo adopted

Polo and Kate are 4 year old yellow Aussies whose owners divorced and neither kept them. Polo is about 63 pounds and has his long, fluffy tail. Kate is about 50 lbs. and has a natural bob. They grew up with 8 and 10 year old children, have not been around cats, didnt go on car rides or outings, but they seem totally sweet and groundednot reactive to much! Theyve had no formal training and are fairly mellow. Polo doesnt even sit for a treat, but Katie will happily!

They pull on a leash, are fine together and with all the other dogs at the Sanctuary. Fostered in Grass Valley.

***ADOPTED 7/4***
Jake NCAR #XXX

Jake adopted
Jake is a 14 month old, 40 pound black tri who was purchased with his sister as puppies. He loves all people and children, is very handsome, and walks well on a leash. He's loving, sweet and greets strangers nicely. He's crate trained and lives with three children ages 4 through 10. He's being rehomed because he and his sister form a pack when they see other dogs. Jake usually takes the lead role and his sister follows. He will tolerate other dogs but will respond to any aggressive moves or sounds from other dogs. When he's with his sister, he is more aggressive and will chase dogs, motorcycles and bicycles. His people are walking their dogs separately, but know he'd do much better separated from his sister in an experienced home where he can live as an only dog and get individual training. Jake is in Redding.

***ADOPTED 7/4***
BRADY NCAR#737
Brady went home to San Rafael with Jack and Lindsay, where he will be with them pretty much 24/7. He will have an active life and go on wonderful adventureslucky boy!

Brady is a smaller, compact Aussie with a natural bob. He might be mixed with something because his coat is short, even around his head and earsbut maybe someone clipped him short! He was wandering around El Dorado Hills and was picked up by Animal Control. No one came for him, and he was quite shut down at the shelter so we rescued him. Hes perked up here, is friendly, quick and energetic. We had him neutered and hes ready for an active owner and would do well in an obedience class.

***ADOPTED 7/3***
Dew NCAR #723
Keith and Jane were drawn to Dew as she is calm, friendly, beautiful and would love to go everywhere with them, just like their previous Aussie Skip did. They work from their home in Pleasanton and may start Agility with Dew who will be a star for sure!

Morning Dew is a 6 year old former show dog whose owner fell on hard times and was forced to move to a place where she could only keep 2 of her Aussies. As Dew is younger, she thought she would adapt to a new home the best of her 3 and so we gladly took her in at the Sanctuary. She knows agility, has good manners, is even tempered, lived with cats and dogs and walks well on a leash. We had her spayed on 6/8 and shell be available by 6/12. Fostered in Grass Valley.

***ADOPTED 7/2***
Lolli
Lolli is an 8 year old, plump mini Aussie. She was purchased over the internet from a breeder in South Dakota. She had knee surgery when she was young - they no longer bother her. She loves car rides and can stay alone in the car for hours....she loves it! She resource guards her owner sometimes and can get slightly nippy with strangers, so an urban environment with lots of people coming and going would not be good for her. A quiet home where she can be with her people would the best. She's living with small dogs like chihuahuas and many cats and kittens. Owner is losing her home and must rehome Lolli. Lolli is in Tracy.

***ADOPTED 7/2***
Inca
Inca just loves people, and loves attention, and wants to be your dog! She's very sweet. She came to Best Friends In Kanab, Utah from animal control, where she had been surrendered because her owner died. No one in the family could handle her because she aggressively guards her person from other people. She is very protective of the person she bonds to, so obviously, she would need a very special home. Unfortunately, she doesnt like sharing her space with other dogs either. Inca is with Whitney Jones.
