Patches NCAR Pup#44
Patches was born on 1/9/12 and is a sweet, wiggle butt of a boy! Very friendly towards all people, but understandably, a bit barky and unsure around new dogs. He and his sister, Amelia lived with a couple since 8 weeks of age and didn't go anywhere to be socialized.
Amazingly, he's quite resilient and willing to learn. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Ruby NCAR #689
Ruby turns 12 years young on 9/25/12. Her family lost their home and moved into a rental house where Ruby wasn't able to be inside. She walks well on a leash, is housebroken, and likes petting. She has shown me that she might trot away if given the chance… so leash walks and no off leash walks are best for her.
She's been over fed and needs to drop a few pounds. She can live with a cat and/or an older, non threatening dog. She's remarkably healthy and spry! Fostered at MUTTVILLE in San Francisco.

Stella
Stella is a 4 year old, 38 pound Cattle Dog mix whose living circumstances
have changed and she's alone or at daycare most of the day. She has
separation anxiety if left alone too long and can be destructive.
She's VERY friendly, loves all people. She's completed several obedience classes and 2 beginning agility classes. She knows Sit, down, stay, leave it, up, over, wait. She's good in the car alone and usually goes to sleep. She's not good in a yard alone for long periods of time and will find her way out to be with the nearest person. She's a Velcro girl - fabulous off leash. She's cuddly and likes to play fetch at the beach, and would be a great running companion. She lives nicely with an elderly cat, too! Stella is in Berkeley.

Maxi NCAR Puppy #40
Sharon wanted a lap dog and called to meet Maxi. It's a bonus that along with loving her, he loves her children! He was in Heaven being petted and held by all of them. Sandy (Adopted 2010 from NCAR) seems to like him too! YAY for Maxi!
Maxi is 18 months old, 11 pounds and loves to cuddle, play fetch and hang out with his little friends. He's crate trained and learning nice house manners. We got him from the Yuba County shelter after his family surrendered him and a Chihuahua because they had too many dogs and didn't want to license them.
We think he's a fun little guy! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Annie NCAR #570
Annie was found about 3 years ago on a big ranch near the Sanctuary. Our vet guessed her age at 3 years old then, and said she had delivered puppies a couple of months back. We rescued her and gave her the medical attention she needed.
A family with 2 small children adopted her in October 2009 and she's been a fabulous "Nannie" dog at her home in Truckee. She's now 6-7 years old, 50 pounds, healthy and loving. She's fine off leash, sometimes reactive with other dogs when ON her leash.
She's always on guard duty at her house when people come in and when they get up to move aroundshe feels it's her job to know what they are doing at all times.
She is, however, great with the children in her home as well as other children. She lies quietly in the car alone, is housebroken, and walks well on a leash after a few minutes of settling in.
Annie loves walks, playing ball, and is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. She settles down nicely in the house. She fears large trucks and hates the UPS truck!
She is friends and actually wrestles with an older, dog-savvy cat who rules the roost.
The family is moving to Switzerland to take care of elderly parents and cannot find dog-friendly housing.

Timmy NCAR #797
Timmy turned 11 years old on August 12, 2011. He's a loving, 60 pound Aussie/Border Collie who lived with a woman who passed away. He's a gorgeous red merle with his tail who was originally adopted from a shelter.
Timmy's was raised like a person i.e. fed people food, allowed on the couch, slept on the bed with his owner, and pretty much allowed to do as he pleased.
He LOVES people and is an incredibly social dog. He needs plenty of love and attention.
He has lived with 4 different cats (2 at a time), whom he has been mostly indifferent too. However, if they run from him, he has become curious and will chase them.
He loves to play catch and fetch, and loves car rides and long walks.Fostered in Grass Valley.

Teddy NCAR #812
Through no fault of his own, Teddy has been in 5 homes already; he's only 3 years old.
He's a sweet, loving red tri boy who weighs 40 pounds and was a terrific patient when we got him up to date on his shots. He was crated A LOT in his young life, and understandably, really wants the freedom to be with me at the Sanctuary. He also barks when I leave, so hours alone in a back yard would not be a good living situation for him.
He's not high energy - rather fairly subdued, is good on a leash and would make a great companion for someone who would like to take him to obedience to give him some more confidence, and be with him a lot of the time. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Daisy NCAR #798
Daisy is a 2 year old North American Miniature Australian Shepherd who
weighs 26 pounds. Although she's not had formal obedience training, she does
know: Sit, stay, down, come, stand, and get busy.
She timid around men and friendly around women. She likes older children, but
no children under 10 who want to hug her or get close to her face.
Ironically, she grew up with 4 very young children, but has proven
intolerant of them and has nipped twice as they tried to hug her. She bit
the 3 year old daughter in the cheek after she reached to give her a hug and
the 5 year old when he tried to catch her after getting out of her collar.
Daisy loves to be around adults, plays well with the smaller dogs at the Sanctuary, and loves fetch. She would do well attending an obedience class or two.
Fostered in Grass Valley.
