There is no rescue group in CA for Miniature American Shepherds. Without knowing much about them, we took 4 very timid Miniature American Shepherds in May. They have been altered and microchipped now and need a lot of time to overcome their fears. They did not go anywhere, meet people nor spend any time on a leash. We have Handsome and Putt who are 2.5-year-old brothers and we have Cleo who is 3.5 years old, and her daughter, Freckles who is 1.5 years old. The males and females are not related.

Cleo is the friendliest of the group. Cleo is a 27 pound blue merle and seems to dance her way through life and does as she pleases. She jumps up for pets now and is the first to come up to meet volunteers. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Cleo lives in Grass Valley and has already started obedience classes and goes on car trips and walks daily.

Freckles is a 29 pound black tri girl who stays close to her Mom (Cleo) and is now soliciting pets and taking treats from my hand. She is less confident when Cleo isnt around but is learning. Shes the last to understand that outside is for pooping! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Freckles lives in Folsom and goes on long walks daily and will start obedience classes soon.

Joya turned 10 years old on March 1, 2021. She was found in her home next to her owner's body. We don't know much about her history except that she lived on a small ranch and is used to living with farm animals. She slept inside at night and is a perfect angel in the house. She was never spayed, has a growth near her vulva, and never had a dental.

We had her spayed and gave her a dental. Her tumor is a vulver tumor, it's benign and should shrink now that she's spayed. So, she's a healthy, energetic girl who is a pleasure to have around!

She is darling and an easy keeper, very spry and about 47 pounds. She was taught to chase cats off her property and never lived inside with them. She plays with my dogs, digs to find rodents and other critters, or hangs out beautifully in the house. This girl will chase animals, including deer, so fencing is a must. Fostered in Grass Valley.
