Austin, NCAR Pup #30
Austin lives with Stephanie in Marin. She started training him as soon as she arrived as he jumped up and up and up for pets. When he sat down, she gave him lots of love and hugstook him 4 seconds! Austin started on what I know will be a great adventure.
Austin is a 5 month old, small, male blue merle who was picked up by Placer County Animal Control. He is fun, sweet and joyful! He is sleeping
all night in his crate, and ready for puppy obedience classes.
He fetches well, has lots of personality and confidence and would probably be a great agility dog. He most likely will not get over 35 pounds.
Fostered in Grass Valley.

Duff NCAR #680
This is truly the best part of my job helping a wonderful dog who otherwise would have no chance.
This beautiful Border Collie or Aussie-Border Collie boy came into the Yuba County shelter as a stray. He had severely mal-formed front leg, was missing two teeth, wasn't neutered, was badly matted and had HUGE, dangling dew claws. He had a hard time moving around but was so incredibly loving.
The XRAY showed that he had an old break to his legat least 3 years old. The tendons in his paw are so tight
from non use, that it curled his paw inwards. The best solution was amputation which would free him up to run
around with ease. Duff's surgery was a success! Poor kid had two surgeons working on him for 3 hours. His atrophied limb, dew claws and 6 dead teeth were removed and the rest were cleaned, plus he was neutered. Whew!
Duff is playful, sweet, weighs only 30 pounds, can get along fine with other dogs and would do best in a single story home with only a few stairs to a grassy yard. Leash walks aren't the best for him because he decides when he's had enough and lies down for a well deserved break! He fetches and likes plush toys and is fine with children. Fostered in Sacramento.

Rex NCAR #703
Rex lives in Carmel Valley with Laura Lee and Dave who adore his huge personality, high energy and funny antics! Rex is having the time of his life.
Rex is a 5 year old blue merle whose owner worked too much to take care of him. Shirley, his breeder at
Coffee Pot Ranch refused to take him back, nor would she foster him for us. He was finally placed with a
woman 4 months ago, but she and her room mates were not equipped to handle a bouncy, pushy, strong
Aussie boy. I again asked his breeder to help by fostering him through the holidays, but she refused.
Rex loves the ball, but isn't driven by it. He likes to be with his person, loves food, likes car rides
and other dogs. He's not an Aussie who can be forced to do things, (kind of like most Aussies) but
instead needs a consistent, dog savvy person and he's quite obedient. He's friendly to strangers,
housebroken and not destructive if left alone either in a yard or house.

Harley NCAR Puppy #26
Harley lives with Jay, Tom and their children Bliss and Calvin in Weimar. They were looking for a gentle, smart puppy and Harley is the perfect match!
Harley is a 4 month old blue merle who weighs 26 pounds. He and his brother Luke (above) were surrendered to the Placer County shelter because
their owner did not have time to train them and they were chasing livestock.
Harley is mellow and playful, and does jump up for pets, but were working on that! He is also learning to walk on a leash. This boy is very
sweet, just like his brother.
Fostered in Grass Valley
