Kody NCAR #614

Kody is blissfully happy living in Concord with Jane and Mike. He gets to go everywhere with Mike and gets leash walks and off leash romps daily!

We pulled Kody from the San Jose shelter where he came in as a stray. He's 4-5 years old, neutered, housebroken, loves the van, knows sit, lie down, shake and will fetch. He is a huge Aussie and weighed 93 pounds when we pulled him in January. He's now a svelt 80 pounds and just STUNNING! We've done a full blood panel to make sure he's heartworm negative, and that his thyroid, liver and kidneys are healthy.

This is a loving boy who doesn't realize how big he is! HE ADORES children, is VELCRO and will bust through a flimsy gate to get to his person. He knows how to use his size! He's got a big grin and likes to stay close. He loves to play fetch and loves his toys. He's great off leash on hikes, too! Fostered in Grass Valley.

ASHLEY NCAR #609

Natalie was looking for a car-loving, laid back Aussie who could be her constant com panion. Ashley fit the bill! Ashley lives with Natalie in San Rafael where goes everywhere with her new Mom. Although Ashley has been at the Sanctuary for 5 months, she happily got in the car and never looked back!
Ashley is a beautiful 12-13 year old Blue Merle Aussie who was purchased as a puppy. We pulled her from the Paradise Animal Shelter where her owner surrendered her because she has no home. We updated her shots and had her examined and she's a very healthy girl!

Sh's a sweet girl who is easy to have around. She loves car rides, is housebroken and I called her owner and Ashley has lived with children, but has not lived with cats. She plays like a puppy with the young playful boys like Crosby, Rigby and Nicky! Go figure!

Loyal and calm, Ashley is another great senior Aussie hoping for a forever home. She's a bit possessive of her person, but not over the top, so she'd do great as an only dog or with a confident dog who will not let her intimidate him! Fostered in Grass Valley. Contact Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Dooley
Sandy (below) & Dooley (10 year old blue merle boy) have been in boarding for what was supposed to be a quick in & out visit. Their owner went in for surgery February 4, 2010, and never made it home. She is currently on a ventilator at a long term care facility and her future is uncertain. If she makes it out of the hospital, she will need long term rehab, and will not be able to care for Sandy & Dooley immediately. Their owner has made it abundantly clear to her close friend that it is very important to her that her dogs go on to have a good life with or without her. Sandy and Dooley are currently seeking a long term foster. Depending on their owners circumstances, they may be offered for permanent adoption at some point. Currently they are being boarded but Sandy & Dually long for the stimulation they need. They may be in the golden years, but they still act like teenagers. They are high energy dogs that love attention and activity. They are h ouse trained and accustomed to living indoors. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit(in Orange County, CA). For more information on adoption policies visit our homepage at www.aaloc.org.

TT

TT and Toofer (below) are in need of rescue because their owner is ill and no longer able to care for them. These dogs are currently with the owner and we are assisting him in finding rescue for them.

"TT" is a 5 year old, neutered male who weighs about 40 to 45 lbs. He was a bit shy and did growl for a second when I first met him (when he was in the car) but once out of his car and into the office he quickly came out of his shell. He is very food motivated and overall has very nice manners.

"Toofer" is a 7 year old, intact female who weighs about 25 lbs. She is easy going with everyone and loves to be held. Seems to be a very nice, loving dog. She was in a dog fight and got her lip torn. It is now healed but still hangs off. She also seems to have very nice manners. Toofer will be spayed upon adoption.

Both dogs are outside on the ranch most of the time but com e in the house at times. They sleep in crates at night. They get along with each other but both can have issues with some other dogs of the same sex. The owner has grandchildren who visit and the dogs are great with the kids. They have been around cats but will chase them if they run.

Cheyenne NCAR #

Cheyenne lives with her new Aussie mix brother in Folsom. They have lots of time together and with their people. Shy Shy as she is lovingly called is very happy indeed!
We rescued Cheyenne and 4 of her puppies in 2008. We believe Cheyenne to be a Catahoula mix. We found homes for the puppies and Cheyenne.

Cheyenne was living peacefully with two cats in her home, but chased a neighbor's cat and actually held it down with her mouth. Because the neighbor's cat is always roaming around, Cheyenne's family was worried and returned her to us.

Cheyenne is great with other dogs, children and people. She's loving and sweet and about 40 pounds. Fostered in Folsom. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Amber NCAR #623 ADOPTED 5/2 & her puppies

PINK Adopted

Beyonce Adopted
We were able to rescue this cutie from the Kern County shelter in Bakersfield at the 11th hour. She was about to have a litter of puppies, so she was not available to the public, and no group stepped forward to rescue her.

Thanks to Debra and her network of volunteers, Amber was driven to our Sanctuary in Grass Valley on Friday morning, 2/26. We think shes 2-3 years old, and we know that shes extremely friendly and sweet!

We don't know how she is around cats, but I know she's great around children and other dogs.

2/28 HOORAY! I awoke to little squeeking noises, and watched Amber deliver her tiny family!
2 red merles (1 female, 1 male) and 2 blue merles (1 female, 1 male). Although Mama looks mostly Aussie, and her puppies look Aussie right now, the pups are not purebred Aussies. Mama and puppies are doing well and Amber is a terrific mom.
3/16 Eyes are open!

4/1 I took our little family to our vet in Sacramento and she confirmed some had pneumonia, so they are all on another round of antibiotics...this time stronger! Mama stopped nursing them so I've been bottle feeding them twice daily since they were 3 weeks old. They are putting on weight, learning to eat from a bowl - what a mess!

4/6 Three are on their second round of antibiotics. Our vet said they are doing really well because they are eating well and gaining weight. I still wipe the gunk from their eyes and give them antibiotics twice a day.
Names:
Blue Merle Female - PINK ADOPTED
Blue Merle Male - BONO ADOPTED
Red Merle Female - Beyonce ADOPTED

If you are interested in Usher, please submit an application to us. Adoption donation $200. $250 refundable spay/neuter deposit required.
