Sydney
Sidney (now Jake) lives with Linda and his new Corgi brother in Vacaville. Linda likes Sidneys sweet disposition.

Sydney is a young black tri from the Stanislaus County Shelter. Another rescue group pulled him and hes now neutered, up to date on his shots and ready for his new home. Hes 15-20 months old, very sweet, plays well with other dogs.

Sydney is very friendly with people and other dogs, even small dogs.  He is housetrained to a doggie door, and calm indoors. He rides well in car, walks nicely on leash.  In great health with a luxurious coat.

Winston NCAR #579
Winston is a blue eyed, 50 pound, 4 year old Red Merle whose owners couldnt keep him anymore. He was raised alone outside, is fine with cats and dogs, and likes every person he meets. Hes very friendly, has had no formal training, hasnt been on car rides, yet is very respectful of all dogs, including pushy Aussie girls! He was neutered August 6 and is ready for his new home.
This is a very nice boy who will flourish once hes had an obedience class or two. Hes not jumpy and wild, but needs to learn to focus and not to mark everything. He needs to live with people who will allow him in the house and make him part of the family. Fostered in Grass Valley. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Neil Urgent
Neil, A239967, is a neutered male, tricolor Australian shepherd mix and is estimated to be about 6 years old.
He has been at the shelter since 10/05/2009.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal: Nice Aussie mix would benefit from training and positive experiences. He is a little nervous when going into new areas. Would recommend placement with children ages 12 and older, was friendly with dogs not interested in the cats.

Logan
Logan lives with Nicholas in Concord and goes with him to work in a winery every day. Logan just adores Nicholas, and is happy to spend so much time with him.

Logan is a darling 8 month old red merle who needs a new home because they have a toddler who is taking up all their time. This was a difficult decision for them as they adore the dog, but also want what's best for him and realize he deserves way more human attention.

He's only 40 pounds, housebroken, crate trained, and up to date on shots. He knows lots of tricks, including: Sit, go pee, fetch, shake, and lie down...sort of! He likes to play Frisbee and brings it back! Logan is a good boy and is gentle with the toddler in his house as well as a visiting 5 year old girl.

He's a great Aussie puppy who will become an even greater adult Aussie with with more socialization, leash training, exercise and guidance. He does not need harsh commands or loud voice, he's a soft boy who is submissive in nature. Logan lives with a 12 pound senior Chihuahua in San Jose.

Kirby NCAR #606

Kirby lives with Dave and daughter, Mandi in Fair Oaks. Dave works around his house a lot and likes Kirby's easy-going, friendly demeanor. Having a swimming pool for Kirby is a plus!

Kirby and his brother Boots just turned 4 years old in May, 2009. They have lived their entire lives together and are much better behaved separated from each other. They are 55 pounds and overweight. They have their tails, too.

They've lived outside or in the garage and didn't get socialized with people, so they bark and take a lot of time to warm up. Kirby is more trusting than Boots - I could pet him after 2 days, but Boots took longer.

Kirby is a lover, is playing with other dogs and coming to me when I call him. He's soliciting pets from visitors at the Sanctuary, too! I have been told by his former owner that Kirby likes to swim. Kirby and Boots lost their home to foreclosure. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Clyde NCAR #601

Clyde cuddled right up to Michele and Dan who took him home to Vallejo. Lucky Clyde gets to spend all day with Dan who works from home.

Clyde was found with Bonnie on a ranchers property in El Dorado County . Presumably, they were abandoned. Clyde is clearly Bonnies brother and sweet, wiggly, loving and about 50 pounds. He's very easy, and almost seemed lost now that Bonnie has gone to her forever home.

He is submissive in nature, but likes people very much and stays close. He's very loving, quiet, crates easily and adores petting. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Dino NCAR #605

Dino (now Dom) lives with Stephanie and Jake in Carmichael. They wanted a mellower Aussie and found Dom to fit the bill, although it was a really tough choice as Kirby, Clyde and Trip stole their hearts too!

Dino was picked up with Trip (see above) at Lake Chabot Park. They clearly love each other, but it's clear Dino is the more easy-going of the two and seems to go with whatever Trip wants. Dino is very loving and quiet and non demanding. I can't imagine that these two ran away from home as they are clearly people oriented. I think they were driven far away from home and then dumped and found their way to the park where Animal Control picked them up.

Dino is a big boy too at a slim 62 pounds and could easily gain 4-6 pounds. He has no leash training, but doesn't pull hard and he sits for treats. He has severely dry skin that the vet determined is from years of flea bites. We also had a scraping done and he's on medications and special shampooing every 2 weeks. We hope to bring him comfort! We think he's no more than 3 years old and is probably Trip's brother. We had him neutered and he's up to date on shots and heartworm negative...YAY! He's a nice, sweet boy.

Fostered in Grass Valley. Contact Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Lady NCAR #603
Little Princess Lady is happily living in Paradise with Walt, Chris, Lucy and her Aussie brother Auggie. She loves her yard and she loves the creek to wade in. The little girl is one happy camper and plays and plays with Auggie. She has better recall than Auggie, eventhough he's had tons of training - but he forgot everything once he had a steady playmate!

Lady is a mini black tri who turned one year old on July 4, 2008. She was given as a gift to an older man who recently became quite ill. A friend offered to help Lady find a good home, and is now fostering her in Wyoming , but will bring her back to California by the beginning of November.

Lady is timid around most people, especially men, but is playing nicely with Zee and Macie, her two Aussie sisters. Shes a bit overweight and should get into shape over the next several weeks with all the playing in the snow! Shes housebroken, cuddly and is having a great time playing with Zee and Macie, both adopted from NCAR. Currently fostered in Wyoming , coming to California November.

Zee NCAR #598
Zee lives with Tammi and her new brother Linus in Berkeley. She's learning all about city life and loves her trips to Pt. Isabel!

Zee is a lovely, calm Black Tri who was born 3-31-08. She was surrendered to us with her 8 month old pup Mujji (see above). The family lost their job and their home and we took Zee and Mujji, and the breeder took back the Golden.
Zee, still a pup herself, and Mujji are both darling and loving. They have lived together without other dogs and are possessive of their food around other dogs, but they are coming around. Zee is absolutely delightful, loves people and solicits pets, but is still protective of her daughter around other dogs. Im splitting them up as much as possible so that they both can gain independence, and they both have made huge strides.
Zee has little drive, but she is showing me that she wants to play and fetch...but she's not obsessed about itshe did run after a tennis ball, but didnt put it in her mouth. She might change once shes living separately from Mujji. Zee has slept inside the home, is housebroken and very quiet and very loving. Fostered in Grass Valley .

Lady NCAR #589

Lady lives in Berkeley with Laurie and Bob. She's getting obedience and agility training, but what she loves to do most is herd her brother Blue! He actually likes it!

Lady is a young Border Collie found dodging traffic in Stockton. Chris (who saved Tramp and many other dogs over the years) got her into his car and brought her home where she showed that shes a smart, sweet girl. She was only 27 pounds when found, and is now 31pounds! Shes spayed, heartworm negative, and utd on her shots.

She slept on my couch her first night, isn't a big fan of being kenneled....will bark. She got out of her slip lead before I got her through the gates of the Sanctuary and didn't budge....just stood by me as if to say, "Why are you panicked? I'm staying close!" So she's good off leash!

She will chase a running cat, but not bother a cat that's in the same room with her. She likes all people and children, stays close and plays well with other dogs. She does not play fetch and bring back the ball.....but she runs along with the other dogs who do! This girl loves the hose and is a smart, well behaved girl. I estimate her to be about 1 1/2 years old. Fostered in Sacramento.

Buddy NCAR #556

Buddy lives with Gaile and her son Grant in Walnut Creek where he gets to hike in the hills everyday. He spends most of the day with Gaile who works from home... Just perfect!

Buddy is a 7 year old, gorgeous red merle who lived with his family since he was a pup. He is a large framed, sweet boy weighing 75 pounds and theres no extra on his frame! He grew up with 3 children, cats and another Aussie. He is also used to going on trail rides and is great around horses. For the past 3 years, hes experienced mild seizures every 3 to 4 months. The vets determined that he does not need medication as his seizures are infrequent and of short duration. *Buddy's been with us for 3 months and we've not seen a seizure yet.

Buddy came to us because he has become increasingly less tolerant of the youngest child in his home. The 4 year old girl is very active and loving and Buddy had asked her to stop, in the only way he knows how. His nips werent serious, but its a sure sign that he isnt fond of her. He is absolutely fine with the older children, aged 9 and 13 with whom he grew up. So with heavy heart, the Mom brought Buddy to us. This is a very nice and absolutely stunning boy who I would trust with children over 10. Fostered in Grass Valley. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

***ADOPTED 11/10***
Kane
Kane is an 8 1/2 year old neutered blue merle Australian Shepherd. He is micro-chipped and up to date on all his vaccinations. He stands about 22" and is 51lbs. He is healthy as a horse and ADORES people and kids.

He is NOT GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS which is why I have to (regretfully) find him a new home. Kane is crate trained and house-broken. He loves nothing more than to sit at my feet (like he is right now) while I am working at the computer. Kane would make a perfect full-time companion for someone who is home a lot, be they older or disabled or just want a companion for their at home office. He is not high energy and doesn't need daily runs.

He is not barky (for an Aussie!) unless people are coming over and then it is just excitement until they say hello to him. He is well trained (has numerous performance and herding titles) and is just a total goof ball. Kane has a very happy outlook on life: he is just as happy retrieving a ball or swimming as he is to cuddle on the couch and have his belly rubbed. Kane is in Santa Barbara.
