Pooka
Pooka lives in Oakland and is already enrolled in obedience classes at the SF SPCA. Hes become more trusting and has shown his light-hearted side a bit more!
Pooka is a 2-3 year old Aussie mix who was a stray into the Stockton Shelter this summer. The San Francisco
SPCA pulled him because hes such a nice boy. He had many suitors at the SPCA, but no one
adopted him, so we were asked to take him since he had been living in a shelter for almost 2 months and
was getting restless.
Hes sweet, loving, submissive with other dogs, and even licked the face of one of my larger, male
Aussies! He loves men and hangs with any visitor to the Sanctuary.....just a loving, sweet boy.
He is a very good watch dog when I'm away from the Sanctuary. He growled at people coming to the gate. He is also not great at the vet's office if his teeth or toes need examining. Hes about 60 pounds and has and easy to maintain coat. I like this boy, hes very easy to have around and kennels very well. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Roscoe NCAR #682
We waited for just the right home for Roscoe and Im happy to say that he now has a 2 year old, well
behaved Aussie sister and lives with his new people in Pittsburg. Chris and Amy will give him lots of
their time, positive training, and love. I am thrilled!
This young blue merle was found in San Francisco on 10/5. No one appears to be searching for him,
and his finders continue to do outreach.
He's about 11 months old, in good health, very energetic, great temperament and super smart but
lacking formal training. Hes got a natural bob, loves to play with other dogs, is good off leash but pulls like a race horse on a leash. He's very loving and a bit head shy, but loves petting!

Lenny NCAR #653
YAY! Lenny lives in Grass Valley! He is with one of his family members pretty much all the time and has lots of property to explore.
Lenny was adopted in August, but was returned mid October because the female pug in his home was a bit too pushy and antagonistic towards him. Lenny is a gorgeous, amber-eyed, 7 year old black tri. He's very affectionate and loyal to his person and stays close. He's aloof to visitors, but warms up quickly.
Hes not playful with other dogs, but doesnt mind living amongst them as long as they don't get in his face. Hes gone on a few hikes with
us, but never leaves my side, nor have I seen him run. Hes m-e-l-l-o-w! He did take a shallow dip in the
lake, but mostly to drink.
He's a great RATTER and can live with horses. He's fine in the house and car alone, but would prefer to go with his person. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Daisy NCAR #685
Daisy went home to El Dorado Hill with Doug, Deloy and their children Brady, Daryn and Kiley and
their Pomeranian, Rusty. The family lost an Aussie who had also had an energetic temperament and Daisy
seemed the perfect match. Happy Thanksgiving!
Daisy is a friendly red merle with marbled eyes. She was 6 years old
on August 5, 2010 and purchased as a puppy from a breeder in SoCal. She's 45
lbs, housebroken, and knows sit, stay and down. From what I've observed meeting her bunk mates at the Sanctuary, she's alpha and uncertain
of other dogs. She postures and puts her head over new dogs' necks to let them know she's Queen! For now, I think she's be best as an only dog or with a non threatening male dog...if that changes I'll change her posting. She always lived with at least one
other dog and 2 cats. She has never gone after another dog according to her former owners.
She loves people and is very friendly to adults as well as children in
public and at her home. She will approach everyone to be petted. She was
raised with 3 children (now ages 6, 4 and 21 months) since she was a puppy.
She is not at all sensitive to noise or children playing loudly and roughly.
She is not at all protective of children playing with other children and
does not herd or nip. She is fine in the car, but will bark if people get
close--more to be let out to play with them than anything else.
She doesn't like to be in a small yard or confined for any length of time-she likes lots of
room and to hunt rodents! She is very excited on a lead and is much better
with a gentle leader than a regular collar.
She is fine around horses & cattle, too. She loves playing, hiking, the
beach, and is very good on long car rides.Daisy's family has moved to a tiny
condo with a tiny yard and her barking cannot be controlled. The landlord
gave them notice unless they rehome Daisy.
She's a great Aussie girl for people who will take her places, give her
plenty of exercise and plenty to do! Fostered in Grass Valley.

Rain NCAR #658
Rain lives with John and Juanita in Clayton. Rain is their 7th Aussie family
member and will love their swimming pool, his daily 2 miles walks, and most
importantly...being the lucky boy soaking up all their love!
Rain is a big, beautiful 6 year old black tri boy who started protecting the 6 month old infant in his home. He didn't like the other child to get too near. This boy is a Las Rocosa Aussie, with champion and Hall of Fame lines.
Rain has had intermediate obedience training and beginning agility. He's
good in public and likes visitors to his home after his initial warning bark! He is suspicious of children
and is pretty sure that they shouldn't be having any fun. He occasionally nipped at the very young kids in his former home when they race around the house, dance, or
squeal. Children over the age of 12 seem to fine. I've noticed with visitors to the Sanctuary, he needs a little time to figure out that they are ok and then he leans in for pets.
He's fine alone in the car and stares out the window and wonders where
you've gone. Eventually he curls up and goes to sleep. Rain is great on a
leash and knows how to heel.
Rain has lived with: Cats, dogs, sheep, llamas, and horses.
His favorite activies are running, chasing balls and toys, having his tummy rubbed, a
good scratch, squeaky toys (he loves to unstuff and dismember them), his
hedgehog toy, going on walks, hiking, swimming, and being goofy.
He's hopelessly devoted and loving. He waits for his family to come home
just so he can love them to bits. He goes anywhere and I always take him on our hikes in the Sierras. Rain is fostered in Grass Valley.

Fiona, NCAR #
It was obvious that Fiona took to Ben right away.and she melted Bens heart, too! They are happily
living in Healdsburg.
Fiona is an 8 year old black tri whose owners gave her up to the shelter in Fort Bragg due to a move to
a mobile home. She is a darling little girl who is adjusting well in her foster home. We found out that
she was hit by a car 4 years ago, but it doesnt seem to slow her down at all and she still likes to herd
her Aussie brother Yosi and jumps up to catch a Frisbee.
Shes only 40 pounds and has a lot of herding drive and will chase running children, but it doesnt go
further than that. She is GOOD WITH CATS and is a loving girl. This cutie pie deserves a chance at a
loving, forever home. Fostered in Fort Bragg.

YUBA NCAR #675
Yuba lives with Parker and his parents in Foster City. They all fell for Yubas easy-going and affectionate nature, and I think the feeling is mutual!
Yuba's heartworm treatment has been paid in full! Thank you Lisa, Steve, Tootie!
YUBA has had a really rough time of it. He came into the Yuba County shelter as a stray. He was adopted right away and then returned a week later because he chased cats. Then another person adopted him and had him several months and then returned him to the shelter because he was moving overseas. He was adopted again and returned 2 weeks later because he tested positive for heartworm.
The shelter contacted us to he needed to be rescued immediately or hed be put down.
Hes a doll and adorable, too!

Stormy
Stormy is a 6 year old mini blue merle bred by Taycins Kennels. Shes shy at first, but warms up in
awhile, and is very affectionate and Velcro with her people. Shes about 30 pounds and will be gorgeous
when her coat grows out. Her owner passed away and she needs a home where she will get regular exercise
and get to follow her person everywhere. Because of her shyness, we feel an active, adult home would be
best for Stormy.
Fostered in Auburn.

Maddie lives in Sacramento where she gets to go to the dog park and hang with her new Mom and Dad most of the day. She has a big sister Sierra, too!
Maddie is almost two years old and is a friendly young girl who has had no formal training. She spent her first year as an outside dog playing with other dogs. She's pretty good on a leash and likes children.
She's barky when she's bored so a lot of mental stimulation and exercise would be great for this girl....a playful, well behaved dog would be great for her.
She likes to fetch, is smart and just darling. Shesslimming down to 35 pounds.
Fostered in Rocklin.

Johnny ID #A065212
Mendocino County Animal Care Services
Johnny lived his entire life out in the county. He was loved and cared for. Life changed and his family
moved to the city and decided urban life was not the right one for him. It is always sad to see an
older dog enter the shelter. Johnny is a gem! He is healthy and shows no outward signs of his age.
He loved being groomed the day he arrived and for sure he is a shelter staff favorite.
