Spencer NCAR #844
Spencer is a 5 or so year old smaler blue merle, at about 40 pounds. He was a stray picked up by Placer County Animal Control. He's neutered, really fun, and loves all people.
He's funny, energetic and generally pretty easy-going. We'd love for him to be an only dog where his person or people will play fetch with him and spend time with him. He LOVES fetch and is good in the car. Can be outside in the yard for several hours, and prefers to sleep outside, too. He's not a candidate for dog park as he's reactive to strange dogs sniffing him or getting in his face. He barks at people along the fenceline, but is all wiggles if they enter the play yard! - He is an excellent watch dog.
Kaya is a loving, 4 year old energetic and clever 22-pound mini Aussie! She wants what she wants, and usually gets her way! She's just adorable, can jump a 4 foot fence, lived with a cat, and likes everyone she meets...except kids under 10 or so years old.
She came to us because she's intolerant of kids who want to hug her or take her by her collar. She's been on a light dose of anti-seizure meds for the past year and is doing just fine. She's darling and very typically Velcro. Fostered in Grass Valley.
ThunderNCAR #880
Thunder is a 35 lb, 7-year-old mini black tri who loves long leash walks or running off-leash in a fenced in area or in open space. His recall isn't great (meaning if he wants to go somewhere, or get into my van, he won't budge when I call him! A long leash walk every day is enough for Thunder, yet he loves our hikes and swims in the Sierra - but he can't get into any trouble because we're far away from the road. He likes being petted and cuddled, is housebroken.
Thunder is intolerant of toddlers, and can be bratty but not aggressive around small dogs, so I think he'd like to be an only dog who is showered with human attention. Fostered in Grass Valley.
Rusty NCAR #898
Rusty is a wonderful, friendly and sweet 10-year-old black-tri. His owner surrendered him to us when he couldn't afford to take him to a vet for injuries sustained in a dog attack. The good vets at Sac Animal Hospital mended his wounds over the course of almost 2 weeks. Rusty had never been to a vet, had several scars from what we presume are previous dog attacks, was not neutered and 25+ pounds overweight. His vet bill was upwards of $1,600 any gifts toward his bill would be greatly appreciated. Click here to donate.
He's living the good life with his foster parents in Sacramento. He goes on 45-minute leash walks, has dropped almost 15 pounds, is on Rimadyl for some weakness/inflammation in his rear legs, and is probably feeling as good as he did when he was a puppy! He seems to love cats snuggles with the one in his foster home and enjoys the company of other dogs. Rusty is a delight. Fostered in Sacramento.

Riley NCAR #897
Riley is a 6-year-old Miniature Blue Merle girl. She and Charley (posting below) are victims of domestic violence; the wife and daughter moved into protective housing and couldn't take her dogs with her.
Riley has warmed up considerably, but is still timid around me and around strangers. She's very sweet, cat-friendly, house broken and loving. I think she could be adopted together with Charlie, or separately, just as long as she gets lots of outings and attention. Some beginning obedience might build her confidence, too. Riley weighs about 33 pounds, is cat friendly and walks well on leash. Fostered in Grass Valley.
Cass NCAR Pup #63
Cass is a sweet, 5-month-old, small red merle boy. He's neutered, healthy and playful. He knows sit and shake. He is loving with all people and children and quite active! He's crate trained, and does the typical puppy stuff, like chew on anything he can and plays like a goofball. He's long and lean...hopefully will fill out with age. Don't think he'll get bigger than 40 lbs. because he's only 16 lbs now. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Misty NCAR PUP #42
Misty is an 11 pound, 3 year old Terrier mix - another stray who was out of time at the Sacramento County Shelter. She would make a nice full time companion for anyone and doesn't need to live with other dogs but could live with a small, playful dog.
She likes being held, can walk on a leash, and is now crate-trained. She would do best in a quiet, adult home. She's Velcro too! Fostered in Grass Valley.Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com
