Shasta
Shasta is a 4-5 y/o, spayed, sable aussie. She's on the small side at only 45 pounds. She's a very sweet,
loving girl who bonds very close to her family. She's good on leash, house trained, knows basic commands
and has good house manners. She's ok with dogs but really loves her people and would do best living with
a non confrontational dog. She's fostered in Santa Cruz with Sue@animalfriendsrescue.org

Phoenix
Phoenix is a smart, loving 4 year old Aussie/Border Collie cross who has
been in 3 homes already. He doesn't trust children under 6 years of age and
will growl or air snap if they get too close. He's fine with older children
over the age of 9 or 10. He loves car rides, is affectionate, kennels
himself to take naps and lives with a cat. We need to find him a home by end
September as his family is moving to the Phillipines and cannot take him
with them. Phoenix is in Fresno, but can be transported to a foster or
permanent home.

Dooley NCAR #632
Dooley lives with Alan in Prunedale where he gets the run of lots of fenced acres and his own swimming pool. What a life.
DOOLEY is a shy, 5 year old neutered Aussie whose owners lost their home and
surrendered him to the Sutter County shelter. He lived outside mostly, lived
with older children and livestock. He's warmed up to me and to people who come here often,
but reluctant to meet new people. He's easy to have around, can stay long periods outside without
problems and is housebroken. He is not a dog for a family with nor a busy household. Fostered in Prunedale.

Annie is a happy and mischievous 10 month old black tri. She was purchased as a puppy by a couple in their
70s and they soon realized she was too much for them. She has not been through any training and pretty
much made up her own games and entertainment which includes grabbing paper from the garbage and running
outside with it, or grabbing my laundry and running outside with it.
Shes terribly cute and fast and will do great with consistent and loving guidance. Shes on the small side
and shouldnt get over 44 pounds. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Moe NCAR #486
Moe is a 5 year old, 50 pound black tri who is very affectionate and sweet. He lived with a family with children his whole life and soaked up lots of attention and adoration. He proved to be reactive to commotion and more importantly, proved that he is very territorial.
He and the other dog in his home were left alone and a neighbor came in through the back door to check on them. The other dog barked like crazy as the neighbor arrived. She didn't even get into the house and Moe bit her, then bit her again as she was trying to back out the door. No stitches, but certainly quite serious.
We feel because his bites broke the skin, that he is a force to be reckoned with and will consider adopting him to someone who is very dog savvy and looking for an effective guard dog. He's a nice, cuddly boy. He loves food, treats and his fluffy toys! He is fine with cats and would love to be an only dog, but can live with a calm, non reactive dog just fine.
Fostered in Soquel.

Murphy NCAR #669
Murphy is a 5 year old, showy black tri girl. Shes about 58 pounds and is on a weight loss program.
She loves the play fetch with either Frisbees or tennis balls and is great about bringing it back.
Shes not too tolerant about brushing or pulling on her collar and will mouth me, so she should not be with
children under 12. She is loving, totally VELCRO, plays with playful dogs, but will put overly pushy dogs
in their place. I like her! Fostered in Grass Valley.

cats, knows many commands and very loving. Sadly, his owner's landlord

Cioppino, NCAR #659
Cioppino is a loving, 3 year old, 40 pound black tri. Hes friendly, wants to be with his person, plays fetch, not overly barky and loves petting! His owners lost their jobs and are forced to move to a small apartment where dogs are not allowed. Hes afraid of loud noises and people approaching him quickly or unexpectedly. He was rescued from a ranch where he was kenneled the first 6 months of his life, so he never had the opportunity to be socialized around all sorts of people. For this reason, we feel an adult only home would be best for Cioppino. He loves to play fetch and is really a sweet companion who has lived with small dogs. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Freckles
Freckles is a 1 year old Aussie/ Samoyan mix whose owner surrendered him to the Fort Bragg animal Shelter when he was only 6 months old. Why? Because he has a heart murmer. Poor boy spent 5 months at the shelter - no one would adopt him due to the heart murmer.
Cathi brought him home in April and had three of his teeth removed the vet thinks he may have been hit in the jaw since all the bad teeth were close together. X-rays show the rest of his teeth to be perfect. Freckles lives with 3 other dogs and is doing great. He would do well in a home with another playfull dog and no cats. He has shown that he likes to herd children so no kids under 12.
(he nibbles on thier pant legs but corrects with a no.)
Freckles has excellent recall, is very playful, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and is on preventative, microchipped, altered, house trained and crate trained. Hes a Turn key dog! He also LOVES the beach and car rides. Fostered in Fort Bragg. Application required.

Kaina NCAR #xxx
Kaina lives in Forestville with Bob, Carla and Gigi. Bob works from home, so Kaina will be his full time side kick!
KAINA was born at the Sanctuary almost 3 years ago his Mom is Cassie.
As a puppy at the Sanctuary 2007
Hes lived with one child for the past 2 1/2 years who is now 10 years old. He sleeps with her, he has always been wonderful with her. He has also lived with 3 indoor cats who he loves to play with, he knows to be very gentle. He has had a "big brother" (German shepherd mix) that he is very codependent with. He likes being with him better than being alone. He sits/stays well, has no food aggression, pulls slightly when he walks on a leash. He gets horrible gas/diahrrea when he eats chicken, so hes fed lamb dog food and he has no problems.
Socially, he doesn't know what to around other dogs, he yelps and whines when he sees them but isnt sure how to play with them- but hes never aggressive. So if rehomed with another dog, the dog should be very patient and sweet and non threatening. He is a smart, loving dog that just wants to please. He gives kisses non-stop and all he wants out of life is to be petted, loved and to run.

FOSTER
Foster is a pedigreed Australian Shepherd and is nine years old. He is friendly and very, very curious,
as this breed can be. He is a bit "hyper" when first meeting people, but quickly settles down. He does not
love to go to the vet., and this is the one time that we use some care with him and muzzle him. Once out
of the close confines of the vets working area he is fine. I've never worried about him with other people.
Foster is well trained and responds to the basic commands of "sit" and "lay down" and "stay". He used to be
very good on a leash but has kind of forgotten that since we've been in the country, but I'm sure he would
quickly respond to leash training. He is a great watch-dog and enthusiastically announces the presence of
unfamiliar people or other critters if they enter his territory. It saddens me to part with him, but I am
making a move into an environment that just can't accommodate an active guy such as Foster. It is my hope
to find a home for him where he can receive love and good care. He loves to be loved, and has much to share
with the right people. Contact Robert Chandler 209.852.9241 or email robert@hamiltonchandler.com for more
information & to meet Foster.
