BLUE NCAR #1132
Blue is an ultra timid, 3 year old blue merle girl who was supposedly rescued from an abusive situation, although I can't confirm this. She loves other dogs, but is terrified of humans and will keep her distance. She zooms through thresholds or avoids them entirely. I'm luring her through doorways with a bowl of food...but I'm not always successful. This fearful behavior can only be changed if GOOD things happen when she goes through a doorway. A couple of minutes on a leash, per day helps.

She walks beautifully on a lead, is housebroken and good with cats. Fostered in Grass Valley.

Rex NCAR #1142
Rex is a hunky black tri boy who turns 2 years old this August. He chased cats so his owner banished him to an outside pen where he lived for the past year. Thankfully a concerned neighbor contacted us and his owner agreed to surrender him to us. He is starved for play with other dogs, and gets uber excited, but never in an aggressive way. When he finds a toy he loves, he digs a hole in the bushes and buries it! I haven't seen this behavior in a very long time! He can see 3 D and watches TV, is housebroken, and knows some commands. He would do best in a home where he goes to obedience classes, gets plenty of daily running exercise and becomes part of a family. Rex is 60 pounds. Fostered in Grass Valley.

DAHLIA NCAR #1140
We rescued Dahlia from the Turlock shelter where she came in as a stray. She was a bit neglected and had a matted coat, but we fixed that! She's shiney and clean, has lost about 7 pounds and doing really well. She appears to be 9-10 years old, but we can't be sure. She's an easy keeper and can stay alone in a yard for hours, or in the house! Fostered in Alamo.

BELLA NCAR #1137
The Colusa shelter director sent us a photo of this girl and asked for our help. She had wandered onto someone's property and brought to the shelter for her owners to find her, but alas, no one was looking for her. We all thought she was a big Aussie!

However, when she arrived, I immediately noticed her double dew claws, plus her over-sized head and knew she had livestock guard dog in her genes. So I had a Wisdom Panel done and her results are: 50% Aussie, 25% Great Pyrenese and 25% mix of other breeds. We tested her with cattle and she leaves them alone! She is not great when meeting new people due to fear, and should be introduced on leash. We think she'd do best in a rural setting, maybe with livestock, and have the opportunity to sleep inside at night. She is no more than 3 years old, crate trained, gets along with all the dogs here, but is a bully about her toys! She's just a gorgeous, 60 pound girl. Fostered in Grass Valley.
