Dustin, NCAR #280

Dusty, Rick, Carolyn
Dusty lives with Rick and Carolyn in Sebastopol. He has 5 acres to run in and will go on daily long walks...this is a lucky, happy boy!

Dusty is a 2-3 year old Border Collie. He is very affectionate and loving and moderately active...but he runs really, really fast when he's "moving" his flock of Aussies! He completely focuses on keeping the dogs together!

I have him drag a 15 foot line in open space because his recall is so iffy. He loves to dash off to greet everyone...no matter how far away. He does come back, but he can distance himself from me very quickly! I carry great treats, too!

He likes people and children and is very kissy and huggable. He's the only dog in my home who doesn't bark at people walking by the house! He wants to fetch, and is learning to walk on a lead. His recall is getting better, especially if I whistle. He greets people warmly, and will jump straight up to say HI....which we're working on! He doesn't care about cats in the same room with him. He loves car rides and is a very calm passenger and crates easily. Fostered in Sacramento. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

***ADOPTED 4/29***
Chipper NCAR #157

Marcia, Chris, Guy & Chipper
Chipper lives in Walnut Creek with his brother Guy and his parents, Marcia and Chris. We could not have asked for a better home for the Chipper Doodle. His long wait was rewarded!

Chipper Doodle is an adorable and sweet, blue and brown eyed red merle! He's almost 10 months old and still a bit timid as he spent his first 3 months at Arthur Warren's puppy mill in Somerset.

Chipper is sweet, affectionate, and is easier around new dogs than new people. His first 3 months at the puppy mill were spent outside without any human interaction. Arthur Warren sold him to a couple who kept him in the back yard all day and the garage all night. This boy was used to entertaining himself and is learning that people want to be with him! However, the first four months are CRUCIAL for socializing a puppy, and Chipper lost that window of opportunity. So we're introducing him to the world slowly and he's doing OK, but will bark at some strangers...especially children. We require that he continue to receive training in his new home.

Chipper has tiny cataracts that will need to be re-checked in another year or so. Currently, they have no effect on his vision, and the opthalmologist said there's no way to predict if they will grow or stay their current size...he said there's a 50/50 percent chance that they will grow. If they do grow, there's surgery to cure the problem. This is a sweet, sweet cuddle bug. Fostered in Sacramento. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Blue, NCAR #265

Blue, PJ and Monique
Love at first sight! Blue lives in Pacifica with PJ and Monique and has settled nicely into his new home!

Blue is a delightful, 10 year old blue merle. He's 65 pounds, but not fat! He's sweet as can be and gets along well with 3 cats in his foster home. He sleeps at his foster mom's feet and doesn't jump up on people or on the furniture. He loves to ride in the car but needs a little help to get up in a higher vehicle like a 4WD SUV. This is an easy-going boy whose heartbroken owner couldn't keep him any longer. Fostered in Concord. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

***ADOPTED 4/14***
Large, adult male ID: A117162
My goodness, is this a nice dog. He is a sweet, friendly, bouncy guy, appropriately submissive and attentive. If he's feeling a little nervous about what it is you want from him, he rolls over for a belly rub just to tell you he's on your team. He likes to greet people by giving them his paw, a gesture that dog folks really like to see in a dog. During his evaluation, he met cats and rabbits and didn't show the slightest interest. He met another dog and did wonderfully but still seems to value the company and attention of humans above all else. He did well during restraint for his blood draw and was very tolerant of being poked, prodded and pulled. Although he is primarily herding breed, he doesn't seem to have a herder's typical quirks. Adopters should, however, be familiar with Aussies to make sure the match is right. He has ample hair and will need some attention to grooming and upkeep occasionally. This boy is bound to melt your heart and entertain you with his silly, placating personality. He is definitely a make-love-not-war type of dog.

Maggie
Maggie spends 24/7 with Paul in Reno and goes on road trips to the Bay Area to visit his cousin Cheech, adopted by Paul's daughter 4 years ago. Most of all Maggie loves their daily hikes!

Maggie is an extremely smart, loyal, and social 7 year old black tri. She’s been raised by a single owner as a four season trail buddy and has lived both indoors with her family as well as spending her daytime in the back yard. She has been well trained to the leash, and takes walks like a lady, but Maggie really loves to go fishing, swimming, hiking, and even canoeing. Her life has been filled with the close companionship of family, visitors, and even dog roommates. Her personality is playful, and clowning with her toys for an audience is a daily highlight. On the trail, she displays her calling as the “keeper of the herd” and monitors whoever is in her group that day, making sure everyone is OK. She is especially gentle and attentive with the elderly, and snuggles quietly at her owners’ feet during evenings watching TV.

Cats and squirrels are always of interest, and she is a bit intolerant of noisy or unruly crowds so the owner suggests avoiding toddlers or younger children who might not realize not to rush at a dog’s face.

Maggie’s family is changing with a baby on the way, and the owner believes she should be placed with an outdoorsy family that could enjoy her warmth as well as her active participation in their lifestyle. Maggie lives near Yosemite. Contact Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

***ADOPTED 4/12***

Delphi, ID #7575
Delphi is what is known as a 'lethal white' Australian Shepherd. This is what happens when two merle Aussies are crossed, and contrary to the name, it is not deadly. Delphi is totally deaf and somewhat vision impaired, but she can see well enough to see hand signs. And she is smart, as a herding dog should be! Delphi already knows how to sit, watch, go potty on command, be in a crate, and walk on leash. With the right training, Delphi has the potential to become a really amazing companion. In spite of her different abilities, she is a pretty normal puppy on many levels. For more information on Lethal Whites, go to http://www.aussielads.com. Because of her special circumstances, Delphi has special adoption requirements. Ask us for more information.

Mortimer
Mortimer is a beautiful 1-2 year, 40 pound, purebred, mini, Australian Shepherd with a thick blue merle coat. He's neutered, current on shots, wormed and microchipped. He is deaf, so will need an adopter willing to work with his special needs. He's a loving and wonderful boy who is a dominant male but gets along with other dogs and ignores cats. He would do best living with a submissive female. He is very attentive and his training is coming along very well. He loves to go for walks and rides in the car. He needs an adult family willing to continue with his obedience training. He's fostered in Santa Cruz, CA. For more information please email Sue@animalfriendsrescue.org.

Shoko
Shoko is a beautiful purebred Aussie, he's about 10 months old, around 65 pounds, healthy in great shape, nice chocolate colored coat, happy pleasing attitude. This handsome boy was found as a stray, noone came to claim him so he's looking for a great new home with a loving family and room to run. He's well behaved, could use more training on leash and commands, does not jump up on people, not a big barker or fence jumper. He most likely would do well in a home with older kids 12+ so he can run off some of his energy playing or active adult home He will be ready in about 2 weeks after he gets neutered, heartworm tested ect check back for updates or e-mail for more info and pictures adoption fee, homecheck, vet references, fenced yard.

Murphy, NCAR #282
Murphy is a very, very timid, 8 or 9 month old black tri with his fluffy tail. He's OK with dogs, but scared to death of people. He won't shy away from people who approach, just sits like a statue. He's warming up slowly...but he's a long term project. He hasn't shown ANY aggression and has wagged his tail and had his moments where he trots nicely on a leash next to me. He allows me to handle him all over and sometimes plays with his Aussie foster siblings.

This boy is not suitable for a family with children as he isn't playful and scares easily. He needs a quiet home where he can make slow, gradual progress. Fostered in Antioch. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

***ADOPTED 4/8***

Hudson, NCAR #281

We're happy that Hudson stayed in Sacramento! Sydney is a 12 year old Aussie who shares her family of 5 with Hudson who is in Heaven!

Hudson was found on the RR Tracks in Madera. He spent a week at the Madera Shelter, but no one claimed him. Everyone, including two Aussie owners thought he was a puppy! Alas, he's a 18 month to 2 year old mini black tri. Cute, cute, cute!

He's a real Velcro boy and has picked up walking on a leash very well...in fact, he walks so closely that he can trip me. At 33 pounds, he's easy to handle, and should top out at about 38-40 lbs. He is very friendly towards everyone he meets, is learning not to jump up for pets, gets along with all the dogs in his foster home. He seems to be OK with a cat. Hudson's a fun candidate for obedience class! Fostered in Sacramento. Contact Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com.

***ADOPTED 4/7***

Sammy
Sammy is a nice 6 year old black tri who loves to be with his family. Unfortunately, his family doesn't have time for him and would like to rehome him. He likes to play with other dogs, really likes women and children and is reserved around men until he gets to know them. He will chase a cat, but lived and played with a guinea pig. He likes to run along with other dogs and does fine at a dog park.

He likes children and lives with a 2 year old, but he doesn't always appreciate the toddlers movements, so we think older children are best. He would do well in a home with another dog and where he'd get to go on outings and get exercised regularly. Sammy is in Oakland. Contact: Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Marley
Marley is a 1.5 year old black tri with a natural bob. He was adopted about a year ago but was returned because...take a deep breath..... they don't have a fenced yard and he kept following the new neighbor's dogs into the nearby road.

Marley is extremely social, loves water, is housebroken and knows basic commands. This is a great, young Aussie boy with a wonderful nature. He will chase running cats.

***RESCUED by WARF***
Riley
If you love Aussies, you'll love the beautiful Riley. She's about 3 years old and along with her brother, Ranger, was recently turned into an animal control facility by their owner for who knows what reason. It couldn't be because of her temperament, as she is amazingly sweet and loving. She could stand to drop a pound or two or three or four or five, but good nutrition and moderate exercise -- playing in the yard, going on evening walks -- should take care of that little problem in no time. Otherwise, she seems to be in perfectly good health. Riley is an intelligent girl, pretty good on leash, well-behaved around other dogs, and very attentive to people. She clearly wants to please. Riley and the magnificent Ranger are deeply bonded so we're looking for the perfect Forever Home where they can be together as they have been their whole lives.

Ranger
Big Ranger is an amazingly handsome Australian Shepherd with knock your socks off gorgeous eyes. Brother (we think) to Riley, the two were turned into an animal control facility by their owner for who knows what reason. He's simply a great dog: sweet, deeply affectionate, silly, pretty good on leash, and knows how to listen. He gets along well with other dogs and clearly adores people. Hs is up to date on his shots and neutered.

We'd like to adopt Ranger and Riley together.
