Berney
Berney is a 5 year old mini black tri. He weighs 35
lbs and loves to play fetch! He needed another home
because he fights with his step brother every time they
are together. His heartbroken owners moved to a new
house, work long hours and needed to separate them all
day. Neither dog was more responsible...they antagonized
each other!
Berney fetches the newspaper and brings it into the
kitchen and waits for his treat! He adores all the neighborhood
children and loves the Frisbee! At times, he has been
aggressive towards other dogs while walking on his leash,
but is OK with other dogs at the dog park cause all
he wants to do is catch his Frisbee!
Berney is doing great in one of our foster homes in
Sonora where he lives with two other mini Aussies without

Jackson

Jackson, Ashley and April |
Jackson lives in Sacramento with Ashley and his Aussie sister, April. Ashley
has brought out the best in Jackson and he already loves his new home and
new "sister"!
Jackson is a 6 year old Blue Merle with his fluffy
tail and came to Best Friends in Utah from another rescue
group 3 years ago. Before that, he stayed with a different
rescue group in Idaho that closed down. This boy
has lived most of his life without a family to call
his own.
Jackson is a very sweet and shy Aussie boy who is
now coming to strangers. He'd prefer to stay in the
background. He takes treats from my hand and gives me
a wiggle and a wag each morning. He now will greet people
he knows, too! He loves riding in the car, going on
walks and he LOVES....I mean LOVES the dog park! He
also loves stuffed toys!
Jackson's learning to be off leash in open space, too!
I have him on a long line and practice recalls...so
far, so good! He is totally sweet....he just has trust
issues. He is on thyroid meds and is a healthy, mellow
guy and VERY easy to have around. No cats.

Dewey |
Dewey
 Dewey lives with his new family in Saragoga. He's in obedience classes, and
goes EVERYWHERE with his new mommy...he's loving it!  First litter from the Somerset puppy mill. These pups
were born March 6 and have their tails.
Dewey is the shyer, more cuddly of the two pups. He has striking blue eyes and loves to play. He is always thinking about how he can outsmart Tank, who is more devil-may-care. Dewey will hide his favorite toys so he can go wrestle and then go back for them later. Tank is still available.

Rusty
Rusty and Rich |
Rusty lives with Rich in Mountain View and goes to his Kiwi Ranch near
Fresno. Rusty and Rich are full time buddies, whether on the ranch or at
Starbucks!
Introducing Rusty, a 5-6 year old purebred red tricolor mini Australian Shepherd with a docked tail. He weighs about 35 pounds. Rusty's foster mom says he is a great dog who knows the commands sit, stay and lay down. He walks well on the leash and likes kids, dogs and cats. He is very sweet and full of love. Rusty loves water and playing in the sprinklers. He is an easygoing dog who is a joy to have around. If you are interested in meeting Rusty, please give us a call.

Chloe
Chloe is a lovely 3-4 year old, 60 pound tricolor Australian Shepherd who was rescued from the Kern County shelter. She would be a great dog for an active family that can keep her physically and mentally active. Chloe is very bright and learns easily, and will excel as she continues with obedience training. She is house trained and uses a doggie door. Chloe gets along fine with other dogs and with dog-savvy cats that won't run away from her. She does fine with kids over the age of 8-10. Laser
Laser is a 15 month old, sweet, all around good boy. He has a kind disposition, and as you can see, he loves kids! Laser needs a home that can give him quality time and regular excercise. He has recovered from Heartworm disease and is up to date on his shots.

Bonnie
NCAR #309
Bonnie lives with Kim and Tim on a small ranch in Wilton. She gets to swim
in the pond and chase the sprinkler with her new brother, Bailey. She's in
heaven!
The perfect blue merle Aussie girl landed in the Kern County Shelter in
Bakersfield. She's easy-going, sweet, Velcro, ignores cats, affectionate,
housebroken and just a little overweight! Our vet estimates she's about 5
years old.
Here's an update from her foster dad: Bonnie is going to make someone a
great pet! She hasn't barked once even with Bandit barking in her ear. She
didn't bother the cats at all,she sniffed at them but left them alone. So
you can say she gets along
with cats. She behaved very well in the bath, and is now taking a nap in
with my wife while she cooks. She does get up on the furniture in an attempt
to get on your lap!
Bonnie weighs 60 lbs, has a natural bobbed tail and gorgeous amber eyes.

Winston NCAR #314
Winston lives with Rudy and Rosamarie in Sacramento. They had a small dog
for 14 years and understand the needs of a "pocket dog"...Winston is very
happy!
Winston is an 11 year old Poodle Shihzu mix whose owner
died. He found himself in the Sac County shelter where
he didn't do well. He's a loaner, would rather live as
an only dog, but does fine at the dog park and in the
yard with several dogs. He likes to rest and eat in his
crate and doesn't like other dogs coming near his food.
He's housebroken and fairly independent and we'd like
to see him live out the rest of his life in a peaceful
home without cats. He seems to love older women! Fostered

Nikki
Nikki found Janet, her forever companion. Nikki lives in Crockett where she
has a big yard, gets to sleep with her new mommy,
and is just minutes away from Pt. Isabel. We are all happy!
Nicki is a 4 year old mini red tri. She's VERY devoted and lovey and used to
being a 24/7 companion to a senior woman. She's energetic, likes the dog
park and loves to sleep on her owner's bed. Three years ago, we adopted

Opal NCAR #299
Opal is Susan's constant buddy. Opal lives in Sacramento where she gets to
go on hikes, to her favorite dog park as well as swim in her new pool!
Opal turned 2 years old in March. She's cautious and
barks at strangers, but will eventually warm up. She's
a good watch dog and barks when someone comes to the
door or gate. She is easy to have around and has become
Velcro in true Aussie fashion. She is playing with the
pups, and loves to play tug of war with Red.
She loves to fetch and is very fast and agile! I bet
she'd be great at agility or flyball. She beats the
boys to the ball! She LOVES playing with the sprinkler,
hose and splashing in her wading pool. Fostered in Sacramento.
