Patriot, NCAR #
Angel and Patriot are brother and sister Red Merle
Aussies. Their father was a search and rescue dog after
9-11, so their former owner named them Angel and Patriot.
They are dilute red merles... rare and gorgeous! They
are 5 years old, raised with children, are well-mannered,
housebroken and very bonded to each other.
Angel protects Patriot so we have separated them so
each can develop on his/her own. Angel is very lovey,
likes children, but attacks cats! She loves to run and
swim at the river. She's a sweet, loving girl.
No cats for Angel! Angel fostered in Sacramento. Contact

Ginger
NCAR#
Ginger is a 3 year old black tri who was surrendered
due to a move. She's very smart and very obedient. She
comes on command every time (unlike so many! and she
crates and sits on command.
Ginger is playful and initiates most of the play with
the other two Aussie boys in her foster home, but backs
off if they snarl at her. She wants to be the first
to get attention and will nose in if they boys are being
petted. She is a typical average aussie in terms of
activity and settles quickly after play. She is a great
candidate for obedience, agility and any training because
she is eager to please and work for treats.
Ginger loves to ride next to a bike and will trot along
for about two miles before tiring. She does fine with
the gentle leader. She's a great dog and loving and
eager to please...a bit pushy around the others. Ginger
can live with children. Fostered in Alameda. Contact:

NCAR #304
Ozzie is a striking 13 month old black tri. He's a bit
undersocialized, but extremely fond of other dogs and
adores playing at the dogpark! On a leash, he can bark
and get excited when he passes people and dogs, so we
are working on that. He is a strong boy who knows simple
obedience and needs continued training. He likes to fetch
and is a great Frisbee dog! He is crate trained and housebroken.
A sweetie for sure! Fostered in Roseville. Contact: Nancy

Tess
Tess is 2-3 years old. She is housetrained and rides easily in the car. Tess
walks on leash but could use more practice at that so she doesn't pull. Tess
is good with other dogs, and fine with cats. As a herding breed, she would
do well in a home where she would be able to get enough exercise. Tess is
affectionate and likes to follow you around to keep tabs on you. Tess is in
Southern California with a private rescue group.

Blue, ID #A118504
What a good boy! Everyone is in utter shock that such a handsome, well-groomed, apparently well-tended creature would end up in the shelter. His pearly whites and his energy level suggest he is just this side of puppyhood. He has a working dog's body language and dances and skips and hops when you have him out on a walk, part from genetics and part because he is still a little unsure of his place in the world and is looking to the human for direction and reassurance. He is so well-behaved and though he clearly would like to just jump into your arms, he resists the impulse. A home familiar with herding breeds is strongly recommended for this beautiful boy. Blue needs attention and interaction in addition to confidence building and may not be appropriate for a home with young children. During his evaluation, he showed no food possession issues and was super tolerant of being poked and prodded. He was fearful of both the cats and the rabbits but is very good with and interested in other dogs. He is handsome and has a coat any dog would envy. Blue is a real catch.

Pogo
This beautiful 14 week old, blue merle, Australian Shepherd puppy is looking
for a special home. This boy is very sweet and eager to learn. He was turned
in to a shelter with a badly crushed leg. The vet was unable to repair the
injury, so the right rear leg was removed. Due to his young age, he'll adapt
quickly and do fine. This pup has a beautiful coat with lots of copper in
it. He's neutered and healthy. He'll be a large Aussie with a lower energy
level. He's being fostered in Santa Cruz, CA. For more information please

 Ollie |
Ollie
Ollie is a 9 month old black tri who weighs about 40 pounds. The family has come
to realize that this boy is too protective for a family
with children who have friends that come over! Ollie needs
a dog savvy home where he will get socialization and training.
He's used to running with his owner every day, and has
had some obedience training: He knows Come, Stay, Sit,
Get Dressed, Leave It, Gentle, Take It. This is very difficult
for the family as Ollie is loving, cute and very smart.
Located in San Anselmo. Application required.

Maybe
Maybe is a 2-3 year old Border Collie who was rescued two years ago from the
Merced Shelter. She's about 50 pounds and quite striking. She's graduated
from basic obedience class and has had some agility training. She would
probably love herding lessons and could be a therapy dog because she has
never met a person she didn't love! She knows Sit/stay, Down/stay, walks
well on leash (but barks at dogs), Give me 5, she turns left and right with
the point of finger, and does hand touches. Maybe learns very quickly and
loves to be trained.
Maybe is being rehomed because she isn't getting along with the dominant,
female Jack Russell terrier in her home. Although Maybe plays fine with the
male Jack Russells in her home, a visiting Boxer, and a friend's Lab, she
and the female JR terrier have gotten into it once too often and now live
separately. Not fun. Since the terriers were there first, Maybe's owner made
the difficult decision to find her a great new home.
Maybe's favorite pastimes are being taught new things and sitting on the
couch next to you with her head in your lap. She adores belly rubs. If she
does something wrong and she's lectured about it, she usually doesn't do it
again...she's almost perfect. Maybe lives in Madera. Application required.

Happy
Happy has decided he wants to be the shelter mascot. He's
been with us for quite a while, and seems to think this
is his forever home! But we know a better home is waiting
for Happy, a home with someone who understands what a
dog like Happy really needs. A home that understands some
dogs are just so smart they need lots of attention. Happy
is an Australian Shepherd mix, and is about 2 1/2 years
old. He is very energetic and will require LOTS of exercise.
Happy will make a great companion for someone looking
for a buddy for outdoor Tahoe activities like hiking,
skiing, and swimming. Humane
