Sam, NCAR #292
Sammi Bear is the apple of his mom's eye. He walks daily with Rosalind in
Alameda and shares the couch with her too!
Sam is a 5-6 year old mini black tri Aussie with his tail. He was a stray
into the CLovis Animal Shelter. He's neutered, has nice manners, gets along
with dogs and cats and just needs to drop about 10 pounds. He really came
alive at Dillon Beach where he hung with us for almost 4 miles! Fostered in

Henrietta
Henrietta was brought to the shelter because she wandered on to a ranch where she started playing with the chickens chasing them around, so it's best there are NO CHICKENS in Henrietta's new home. At our best guess Henrietta is around 2 to 3 years old, is Large/Medium in size, walks on a leash, sits when asked. She appears to be VERY well mannered, sweet, loving, playful and one special wonderful girl. While I was in Henry's kennel, I gave a little test by looking in her mouth, pulling on her ears and tail, holding her paw and giving her a little kiss and hug. Henrietta appeared to past the test for me with no problem. We feel she may make a Great family member and wonderful companion. If you wish, Henrietta can be tested at the shelter around Cats and Dogs.

Bear ID: A117562
Australian Shepherd, Large, Adult Male.
This dog is a delight, a true specimen of his breed. As is typical, he is interested in almost anything that moves, including you when you walk him. He was born to herd and that's what he'll do given license. It's pretty endearing but a cat or rabbit may not agree so he's probably best suited to a human, dog, and fish-only home. He is good about sharing food (shows no possession issues) and is highly food motivated which always gives you a leg up when training. Bear is GREAT with dogs similar in size but will try to herd anything much smaller. he is not aggressive but his natural tendencies can come across as annoying. Any potential adopters should be familiar with breed characteristics so they know what to expect. Bear is very, very smart, energetic, and job-oriented. Agility or, imagine!, herding would be a dream for this boy. If those aren't in your game plan, walking, biking, hiking, jogging, or lots of ball playing would be great second choices. Or maybe a little of each. This boy is not one to be adopted and then abandoned to the backyard. He will need interaction and attention and this is no more than he deserves. He's a special creature.

Chelsey, NCAR #298
Chelsey lives in Redwood Valley
with Loretta and Russ. Chelsey is being trained to
be a therapy dog like her sister Tia.
Chelsey is a 15-18 month old Aussie girl with her tail. She's small at only
34 lbs. She's shy, sweet and fine with other dogs....in fact, she likes
dogs! She's learning it's OK to come in the house and learning not to be
scared on a leash. She'll come around in time, but she needs a patient,
loving person to help her. She came into the Sacramento County shelter
through the Night Drop Off with no paperwork. She was very shut down in the
shelter and is opening up very nicely in her foster home. Fostered in
Sacramento.

Violet, NCAR #289
Violet lives with Cindy in Petaluma. She gets to be with her mom on a horse
ranch and play with other dogs when she isn't trail riding with her mom. She
is Cindy's constant 4 legged companion!
Violet is an 8 or 9 month old black tri. She is confident,
high energy, playful and a very fast runner! She's food
motivated, a quick learner and is cuddly, too! Because
she's confident and a little intolerant of annoyances,
we don't recommend her to the first time Aussie owner,
nor to a family with children under 12. She needs immediate
obedience training and then the sky is the limit! She's
only 34 lbs and should top out at 40. OK with cats! Fostered
in Sacramento.

Mackie
Mackie is a 2-3 year old female lethal white Aussie. She
can hear and see, but has only one functional eye. She
was found about a year ago and kept safe by a woman without
a fenced yard, so she was tied out most of the time. Consequently,
she has some fear issues, but considering her circumstances,
they aren't that bad! She's fearful of all dogs in her
space, especially when they approach on her right side
where she has no vision. She's being introduced to calm
dogs and she's getting much better...she's even playful!
With all people she is SWEEEEET! A hugger, kisser and
a wiggler. She also listens extremely well and will fetch.
This girl is in Southern California. Contact Megan at

Maggie now lives in El Cerrito with her new "parents" where she'll be a therapy dog! She'll be with her mom most of the time and get to bring joy to hospital patients.
Maggie is a 4-5 year old black bi Aussie mix. She's
very lovey, kissy and mellow. Someone loved this girl.
She walks extremely well on a lead, loves car rides
and would make a wonderful, mellow companion.
Maggie could stand to loose 5-7lbs (She is 53lbs).
She bonded very quickly to her foster dad and likes

Ellie, NCAR #293
Ellie lives with Judith in Sunriver, Oregon. Judith has owned Aussies for 25
years and takes her Aussie with her everywhere. Judith hikes 180-200 miles
per month from Apr thru Dec and snowshoes 140-160 miles per month Jan thru
March!
Ellie was surrendered to the Sacramento County Shelter because "we lived
next to a day care and the kids were teasing her and she couldn't take it."
Yes, this is what her previous owner wrote on the surrender card. Ellie was
scared at the shelter and staff asked us to take her. Ellie is about two
years old, and fine around people and other dogs. She's a little head shy,
but she just ducks then shakes it off quickly. So far, we think she's pretty
swell! Fostered in Sacramento.

girl.
She is fairly energetic and appears healthy... no limping,
a little extra weight but nothing serious. She would
be an excellent companion for the person or family who
wants a gentle, kind, sweet dog in their family. She
walks nicely on a leash, sits when I asked her to and
is very people friendly.

Indy,
NCAR#
We pulled this handsome blue merle boy from the Merced
County Animal Shelter. He was named Rex Harrison cause
he's a LOOKER! He's learning about many things in his
new foster home.
He hasn't met a stranger he doesn't greet like a long
lost friend...he's very human oriented. He's also very
athletic and takes a long time to settle down. He's
a great Frisbee dog and loves to run and play. He's
learning to walk on a leash and not bark at dogs...it's
all very exciting! He would do best in an Aussie savvy
home where he gets obedience training, possibly agility
or at the least, plenty of stimulation and activity.
Fostered in Campbell. Contact Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com
